I Think My Dad Knows The Person Who Murdered His Wife

My dad is having a hard time coping with his wife’s murder.

As you can imagine, he isn’t taking the whole thing well. My parents divorced when I was a lot younger, and she was his second wife. From what I know, they had a good relationship. In fact, I always thought she was a good influence on him. But did I actually like her myself? I respected her, liked her, and was polite to her, but I can’t say I loved her. Don’t get me wrong, what happened to her is horrific, and I can’t imagine she did anything remotely possible to deserve anything like it.

Not surprisingly, he seems like a totally different person since it happened. One night, she left home and was found dead in her car about two hours away. No one has any idea what happened. Not gonna lie, it creeps me out a bit. Especially knowing the person hasn’t been caught.

About a week ago I heard him talking. It was late at night, and I can’t say I was surprised. The doctors had given him something to help him sleep, but I don’t know how effective it was. It made him groggy and susceptible to sleepwalking. He had also been indulging in a few drinks, which is not good on something like sleeping pills. Still, I couldn’t really blame him. Ever since it happened, I had been staying at his place to keep an eye on him and all that.

I heard him get up and sort of fumble around in the dark. Believe me, I knew better than to try to wake a sleepwalker. So I tried to just lie there and let it pass. He might have gone to the bathroom or something because I’m pretty sure I heard that door open. To my surprise, I heard him mumble something.

“Veronica is gone, and here I am, stuck with the person who killed her. Almost every day like clockwork, I have to look at that conniving asshole. It’s not bad enough you kill her, your face tortures me day after day. Well, one day you’ll crack, and your ass will be locked away for good. If you’re lucky. Because I hope to God, I get to you before the cops do.”

I didn’t hear him say anything more before he shuffled back into his room. The door creaked shut again, and everything was silent.

My brain, on the other hand, was anything but. Part of me was wondering if I really heard that. I sat up gingerly, patting myself on the arm to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Yup, that really happened. So I just laid there dumbfounded. I didn’t think it was possible, but I felt even worse for him than before. Not only was his wife taken from him, but it was someone he knew. Someone he was forced to deal with. I can’t imagine anything worse. It’s bad enough when someone wrongs you, but being forced to behave as if nothing happened is downright unbearable.

The first thing I wondered was why didn’t he report it to the police. With a sinking feeling, I answered my own question. Maybe he did, and it didn’t go anywhere. Or worse, maybe the police already knew and just couldn’t prove it. It happens far more than people like to think. Feeling a chill run up my spine, I couldn’t help but wonder who Dad knew that was capable of something like that. A quick mental check didn’t yield any results. Someone who had a grudge against him was the most likely. Or someone who he had one against. While I admit I hadn’t been in touch with him as much as I’d like, there still isn’t anyone in his circle who I’d suspect of such a thing.

But that didn’t make things any easier. If anything, it just made it worse. My own father thought his wife’s murderer was someone he saw on a regular basis. Over the next few days, I tried to keep an eye on stuff. A handyman or cleaning lady perhaps? But according to him the few people he did occasionally use for stuff like this were people he really liked. I didn’t push the matter and tried to act as nonchalant as I could. Inside though, I was on edge, mentally running through people he knew and asking, “Could they have done it?” When I couldn’t answer yes to any of them, I began to feel truly afraid. No matter who they were, they were around.

All I could do was wait for him to sleepwalk again to see if he said anything more. Every night when he went to bed, I felt my adrenaline shoot up. I would get out of bed, quietly walk to my door, and peer out the tiny crack I kept open at night.

Every time I would silently scream “Come on start talking again,” but he wouldn’t. I felt so weird peering at my Dad sleepwalking. But hey, this was a bit of an unusual circumstance. While he did sleepwalk a little bit, he wouldn’t talk. At least, not for a few days.

When he did it last night, I almost leaped out of my skin when I heard his voice. I was staring through the crack in the door, and once he began talking, I felt my heart almost leap into my throat.

“You think you got away with it, did you? Well, keep thinking that. Your day will come. I guarantee it. Sleep well you son of a bitch.”

He walked back into his room after that and shut the door.

I felt like my chest was going to explode. Seeing him in the bathroom talking like that had been creepy before, but now it was more disturbing than I could imagine. It had been bad when I thought all he was talking about was revenge, but now I realized something. He hadn’t just been talking in the bathroom, he had been talking to something in the bathroom. His voice sounded exactly the same as last time when just now, I saw him lean in and address the medicine cabinet.

The medicine cabinet complete with a large mirror.

Father of 7 to die by hanging for killing pregnant wife in A’Ibom

Justice Ntong Festus Ntong at the Ikot Ekpene Division of Akwa Ibom State High Court, on Friday, ruled over a murder case which had been on for four years by sentencing the accused, Friday John Uko to death by hanging.

Friday was accused and later convicted for the murder of his pregnant wife, Patience.

Ntong ordered that the accused be hanged in the neck until he dies.

Uko, who hails from Ikot Ossom in Obot Akara Local Government Area of the state, committed the offence in August 2014.

The court held that the convict kicked the mother of seven who was then pregnant with their eighth child in the stomach and pushed her to the ground thus leaving her bleeding.

An argument it was gathered ensued after Patience took the sum of N1, 000 from her husband’s pocket to prepare a meal for the family.

In handing down the death sentence, Chief Ntong expressed sadness at “the callous behaviour of  Friday towards his pregnant wife who according to him, should be pampered and courted until she delivers the baby.

“The accused pushed his wife down, knowing that she was pregnant and ought to be pampered and treated with love instead of violence, “the judge said.

He added that, “the case is a straightforward one since the accused told the court through his extra-judicial statement, that he caused the death of his wife by kicking her because of a misunderstanding over N1,000.”

Ntong  stated that anyone who unlawfully kills another is entitled to face the law, noting that “the instant death of the pregnant wife on the spot showed a deliberate intention to kill because of the heavy force the husband exerted” and prayed God to have mercy on his soul.

The convict whose lawyer was not in court at the time of the ruling, prayed the court to show him mercy and save his soul in order to take care of their seven children.

Sticks And Stones May Break My Bones, And Words Can Often Hurt Me

I know all of you have heard of this phrase at least once in your life: choose your words wisely.

So, why?

This is America and we have freedom of speech, lets use it!

Well, not necessarily so.

Words have more power than we can even imagine. Words are paint on a canvas; they depict breathtaking pictures of a monotonous life and they beautify the simplest of tasks. They dance across our mind and illuminate long forgotten emotions we thought we couldn’t feel again. They mingle in our head, attempting to catch our attention.

Words grace us with awe-inspiring images of carnage and revelry. They relive every moment you ever felt, recreating all the sights and smells that bring you back to that time you were completely in bliss. However, the most important thing about them is that they tell stories. They recount the tragedies and epics of the world and teach us lessons that we could never comprehend on our own.

They’ve always been powerful and it shouldn’t be realized now. So many people have used them to stir innermost instincts like fear or love. Hitler barked commands to rally his aggravated people. Gandhi calmly suggested advice to maintain the glass-like peace in his country. Words built empires and tore them down in a blink of an eye. Words themselves have no pity for their actions, but we do. What we say can hurt anyone. I know this one for a fact. Although you tell yourself that words don’t hurt, they do.

I’m sorry if you’ve been bullied; it shouldn’t be experienced by anyone, but it happens when weak, insecure people need the adrenaline rush. I’m sorry that they make fun of you for being you. I’m sorry that you’re anxious every moment of the day. I’m sorry it seems endless.

When you wake up in the morning and get that twinge of pain you get every morning, the dread of going to school and facing a bully that has no mercy. Everything they say echoes constantly in your ear, no matter where you are. Dragging your feet, you enter the school prepared for the endless array of wounding words. You spot your bullies across the hall; their gaze makes you feel distressed. Your eyes dart around for a quick escape, but there is no one willing to help or hide you.

Although they won’t physically harm you, they taunt, even maim you with their words. They know how to get the school riled up against you and they threaten anyone who truly cares enough to lend a helping hand. Even when you are at home, you don’t feel like you are at home. Your safety is always balancing on a tightrope, and at any moment you could fall. You get messages from Facebook and Tweets that don’t say your name, but you know they are meant for you; you are a bulls-eye that everyone is aiming at. You are an earthworm ravaged from your home after some rain. You are no one.

Then again, words don’t just go one way.

You have the power to fight with your own statements, even if it means swallowing your fear and pretending you have the confidence to scream louder and more dramatic than any wild beast. The thing is though, you can’t just throw around random words hoping that your adversary will understand; you have to emphasize them and add your soul to forge the perfect meaning. You have to build them to be the giant that reaches the sky.

Words are your army, if they are used precisely as you need them to be, they can accomplish whatever your heart desires. Despite the endless desperation, confronting your bully (in a polite and direct matter, of course and don’t bring them down, it’ll make you no better) will help relieve the stress of the world on you shoulders. And with your newfound confidence, you feel invincible.

Every bully is different; this is why it is difficult to stop them. It’s getting harder and harder to monitor the words others are saying. But I hope that you are filled with Courage, Confidence, and Conviction. I hope the words flow smoothly like a stream because you deserve it and you deserve the happiness of being free. Your words will build mountains and can save you from being caged. Don’t let your bully’s words bring you down, let your own words build you up.

He knows himself very well. He can even rely on himself. Be prepared. Sometimes, he thinks that training is too much, which is not conducive to his physical condition. He will tell us that too much watering will kill the flowers. It is very important for the players to fully understand their body.”

Juventus coach, Allegri warns Cristiano Ronaldo

Juventus manager, Max Allegri has sent out a warning to forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, ahead of his side’s clash with Lazio on Saturday evening in Serie A fixture.

Allegri said he’s not afraid to bench the Portuguese international when they face Lazio this weekend at the Allianz Stadium.

He, however, praised the 33-year-old for always putting himself into contention with his fellow teammates.

“Yes. There will only be a few changes before the international break,” Allegri was quoted by Football Italia as replying to a question during Friday’s press conference on whether Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic could play with the Ronaldo.

“There will also be a very hot atmosphere tomorrow so everyone will be needed, even those who enter during the game.

“For example, the wing is more covered with Douglas Costa, but we also know what can happen with CR7 there.

“I have to make a decision on Matuidi today. He’s in good shape and he always runs. He came in late last season but immediately made us understand what he could give us.

“Changes will depend on the moment, our state and our opponents. From September 16 we’ll be playing every three days, so the changes will be natural.

“However, decisions must be made and only winning counts. if you win, every decision you make is a good one but they’re never fully accepted.

“I’ll decide on Dybala today. The game against Chievo had been one-way traffic, but then there was Cancelo’s mistake, which was an individual error.

“Just beating Chievo was enough. If we went 3-0 up after half an hour, it wouldn’t have worked out well.

“Ronaldo always puts himself in contention. He’s a true champion, who has built himself with work and sacrifice. He’s a good example and he raises the bar here.

“Ronaldo will never be on the bench, right? No, it can happen,” he said.
