PEOPLE-PLEASER

PEOPLE-PLEASER

Many people engage in people-pleasing without realising it, and the worst part is that it often leads to resentment when others do not reciprocate. If you want to know if you are people-pleasing, you probably exhibit one or more of these behaviours:

1. As a people-pleaser, you find it hard to say no, even when you don't agree, when it's inconvenient, or when it could have a negative impact on you. You end up saying yes to almost everything, and it leaves you feeling overwhelmed and resentful.
Please, learn to say no.

2. As a people-pleaser, you are afraid of what other people think of you, so you constantly feel the need to perform for them. You do what they want, and you behave in a way that fits what other people like, rather than doing what you want for yourself.
This is unfair to you.

3. As a people-pleaser, you always prioritise being there for others over taking care of yourself, neglecting your own needs. I hope you know that there is nothing wrong with prioritising yourself.
You're important too.

4. As a people-pleaser, you feel uncomfortable setting boundaries and expressing your limits because you worry about being seen as mean, so you end up always accommodating others. However, there's nothing wrong with setting boundaries regardless of how anyone would perceive you.

5. As a people-pleaser, you change your personality based on who you’re with and what you think they will approve. You can not be yourself because you constantly need validation from other people.
This is a disservice to you, stop it.

6. As a people-pleaser, you need constant validation and approval from other people on how good your behaviour is based on what they expect and not what you believe in. If this is you, ask yourself;  “What about me? What do I want?”

7. As a people-pleaser, you’re always under pressure to be nice because you’re scared of other people’s disapproval. I know it’s okay to be thoughtful and empathetic; however, as a people pleaser, you overdo it.
Find a balance, for your sake.

8. As a people-pleaser, you let people take advantage of you because you’re scared of disappointing them. And because of this, you fail to put yourself first and end up getting angry when they don’t do the same for you.

To Whom It May Concern, All You Need To Do Is To Start Putting Yourself First.
