National Emergency Management Agency – Three Suicide Bombers Killed in Maiduguri

NEMA has confirmed the death of three suicide bombers that were found at Muna area of Maiduguri who had tried to infiltrate the town on Friday. NEMA’s North-east Zonal Coordinator, Bashir Garga, who confirmed the incident, said that the blast happened outside the town.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that four powerful explosions happened between 9.00 and 9.30 p.m, sending terrifying echoes to several parts of the town.
Mr. Garga disclosed that the suicide bombers detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped to their bodies behind the security trench at Muna Garage area on the outskirts of Maiduguri.
He said that terrifying echoes by the explosions caused some residents of the area to flee which made them sustain injuries.
Mr. Garga added that the wounded were referred to hospital for treatment in Maiduguri.

“Details on the incident is still sketchy. It occurred behind the trenches and only the suicide bombers were killed,” he said, adding that normalcy has been restored to the area.

Muna garage is prone to suicide bomb attacks prompting the military to impose a dusk to dawn curfew to secure the area.

Nigerian SInger 9ice – My Songs Promote Hard Work Among Youths, Not illegalities

Since the banning of 9ice’s song which is titled “Living Things,” he has kept silent on the issue until now. He expressed his shock that his song, ‘Living things,’ could be banned because according to him, most of his music promote hard work among youths and not illegalities.
In a recent conversation he had with Punch‘s Saturday Beats, the singer says he was so surprised by the ban National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned and that the song was to promote hard work among the youth and not anything illegal.
He said:

My song has been banned again?. I am surprised that they banned my songs because most of my music is to inspire the youths to work hard and ensure they do things the right way. I don’t sing songs that would encourage anyone to do the wrong thing. I have been in this industry for a while and I know better than to do such because I know a lot of people look up to me in the society.

9ice hit song which is Living Things have been fingered as the subject of a statement by fellow rapper Falz, who enjoined Nigerian musicians, in general, to be mindful of the kind of messages that they passed to the public with their lyrics as a musician.

Falz had appeared to be genuinely concerned about the impact of such messages on the youth. He pointed out that artists who saw nothing wrong about glorifying Internet fraud, drugs and other anti-social behaviour were not doing the society any good.
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on last week Tuesday, placed a ban on hit songs of Nigeria’s superstar singers for an alleged violation of its rules and regulations.
It named Olamide’s Wo and Wavy Level; a remix of Davido’s If and 9ice’s Living Things as the culprits in a current list of banned songs and music videos that it released to the public.

Nollywood Actress Rachael Okonkwo – How I handle se.xual Harassment

Rachael Okonkwo fondly called Nkoli Nwa Nsukka in an interview disclosed how she has been handling se.xual harassment as a Nollywood actress. While most of her other colleagues often lament about their se.xual harassment ordeals in the hands of film producers and directors. Rachael Okonkwo has a different opinion concerning this issue.
Nkoli Nwa Nsukka claims that she has not really encounter se.xual harassment in the movie industry because God has always been there for her when she needs help.

“I have not really encountered se.xual harassment. God has always been taking care of that for me. To God be all the glory. And again, I’m still the same old me, fame hasn’t deprived me of anything. I don’t allow my celebrity status get into my head,” she said.

According to Sun News, the light-skinned actress, who goes as far as putting smiles on the faces of children through her Easter Carnival, noted that all is set for this year’s edition that going to hold in her hometown in Enugu State.

“The carnival is a way of giving back to the society after all that God has done for me. It’s a big carnival where we have not less than 20,000 children in attendance. Two Lagos Secondary Pupils Goes Six Feet After Falling into Septic Tank

Two pupils of a Secondary private school known as Bright Future Academy, have lost their lives during a serious downpour on their home from school on Thursday around 4:30 pm at Omikunle area of Ijaiye, Lagos State on Thursday.
According to Punch, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti said the pupils, whose name are Olumide Olaegbe, 15, and his friend, Farouk Jagun, 16, both of whom were in SS2, fell into a septic tank and that they were both rushed to a private hospital in the area where they kicked the bucket.

He said,

“The incident happened on March 29, 2018, at about 4:30 pm. It was reported at the station on the evening of that same day’.

One Olumide Olaegbe, male, 15; and his friend, Farouk Jagun, male, 16; both students of Bright Future Academy fell into a sewage tank at Foursquare Street while coming from school during a heavy downpour on that day.

“Both of them gave up the ghost same hour while receiving treatment at a private hospital.”

Meanwhile, some people who said they were present when the incident happened told the News Agency of Nigeria that the remains of the students were found floating around Casso Bus Stop and they were quickly moved to a nearby hospital by shop owners who saw their bodies.
The report quoted a witness as saying she and others were taking shelter from the rain in a nearby shop when they noticed the floating bodies on the water.

“That was how we discovered the boys and quickly some motorcycle riders rushed and lifted them on their shoulders but they were lifeless because their legs and hands were just dangling,” the witness said.

One of the riders said they were able to know the boys were students because they were in their school uniforms.

“I am sad and cannot talk now because they are dead and nothing can bring them back to life,” an eyewitness who said the duo could have been friends said.

Meanwhile, according to the NAN report, a worker in the hospital said the boys had given up the ghost before they were brought in.

Some Groups of Cattle Rustlers Have Been Detained while They Were Sharing beef in the forest

Cattle rustlers who their names are as follows: Hammanjulde Yahya, 50; Umaru Yahya, 40; Paul Samuel, 35; Juli Adamu, 30; Ibrahim Yusufa, 27; and Usumanu Buba, 25, were detained by a military team that was patrolling from the 20 Mechanised Battalion, Serti, operating in Mambilla, Taraba State, while they were in Nyogor forest sharing meats from cows they rustled.

Parading the suspects, the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Lt.-Col. Sani Adamu said 30 cows were discovered from the suspects who were detained by soldiers in Mayo-Ndaga in Sardauna Local Government Area of the state, who were in the troubled area where numerous persons had been murdered, and hundreds of cows have been stolen earlier in the month.
Acting on intelligence, the soldiers invaded the forest when they got vital information that the cattle rustlers were inside the forest.
The commanding officer told a NAN correspondent;

 “When we entered the bush on Sunday, March 25, we caught them (suspects) sharing the meat of the stolen cows in Nyogor forest. Further search into the deep forest led to the recovery of 30 stolen cows, which have been handed over to community leaders in Mayo-Ndaga for proper identification by their owners.”

He concluded his statement by advising people to live in peace and unity while imploring those in possession of stolen cows to quietly return them to community leaders or security agents so that they can be pardon.

“Those who refuse to adhere to this advice should blame themselves for whatever happens to them when they are caught,” he said.

This is coming few weeks after Zamfara Police Command declared they have arrested five suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers, and discovered 31 cows from them.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Muhammad Shehu, in a statement said that the two suspected cattle rustlers who on Jan. 15 attacked Tungar Dundu village in Anka Local Government Area and stole 31 cows belonging to Alhaji Mohammad Dandare, were arrested.
“As the case was reported to the police, the anti-cattle rustling team of the command swung into action and arrested two suspects in Dangurunfa, Bukkuyum Local Government Area,
“The 31 cows were recovered from the suspects and the suspects are assisting the police with information. They will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed”, Shehu said

A Man beheads His uncle in Akwa Ibom State as a Result of disagreement (graphic photo)

A Tragedy occurred last on Sunday 25th March 2018, at Eyosio – Osung Village in Udung Uko local government area of Akwa Ibom state. it was gathered that a suspect whose name was not given killed his uncle whose name is Chief Joshua Ekpo, over a dispute they had.
Sunday Esu, who is a Facebook user shared the report but however, never revealed what led to the man’s death wrote this;

This is coming after several months after the Enugu State Police Command declared the arrest of a man, Daniel Ekemezie, for killing his uncle, Pa Patrick Odoh (83), over a land disagreement. The command’s spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, revealed this in a statement and further added that the suspect has blamed the devil for killing his Uncle.
Amaraizu said that the killing occurred at Ukpata community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state. He said that police acting on intelligence, promptly caught the suspect who confessed what happened between him and his late uncle. The suspect also said that he and his uncle had been having a fight over a protracted land dispute.
According to the suspect, around 8 p.m. Ekemezie aka Bakassi and a father of two children, left his house in Ukpata community and headed to his uncle’s place, Pa Odoh place, who was believed to be about 83 years.
“On getting to the place, I woke my uncle up and tied his mouth with a cloth to avoid him shouting, while I whisked him quietly that evening to Iyimkpafu/Ofiakputu forest in our community. I tied him to the tree with a rope and left him till March 8, 2017. When I discovered after five days that he was dead, I buried him in a shallow grave” he said.
