Diego maradona striped of ambassadorial duties by FIFA for misconduct in Argentina’s match against Nigeria

FIFA removed football legend Diego Maradona as ambassador for FIFA and will no longer be paid over his poor conduct during the Argentina and Nigeria match. Maradona had celebrated Argentine’s second goal by raising his middle finger at fans who were trolling him when the score was at 1-1 draw.

FIFA had considered his behaviour embarrasing and hence will no longer be entitled to the fee he do receives from the world soccer governing body for bringing the spotlight to any world cup match he witnessed live.
He has also been urged to be of good behaviour in the remaining games he’s going to watch at the world cup if he is to avoid a possible stadium ban.

Victor Iyanam the brother of former globacom manager, Okon Iyanam, who was assassinated on Wednesday in Ogun state,(Read here) has given an account of how he was murdered.

Read what Victor wrote on his Facebook page below;
YES, IT IS TRUE.
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the tragic death of my brother, Okon, in the early hours of Wednesday 27th June, 2018. Okonpapa had just recently opened his new Heritage Hotels and Resorts in Mowe, Ogun State where he spent most of his time trying to stabilize the management and sales techniques. He reported a successful ongoing venture. While a birthday party was going on in the hotel, some men, suspected to be either armed robbers or hired assassins crashed into the place at about 12.30am with sporadic gun shots. They asked for the owner. When he was eventually identified, he was shot at close range in the neck region. He stood no chance. He died instantly. The Police first Responders then deposited his body in a Morgue. I rushed to Lagos upon the information delivered to me and confirmed for myself, the level of wickedness anybody could deliver to a man whose only crime was working hard for his livelihood.
Okon papa graduated from the University of Calabar in 1986. He started his career with UAC Foods immediately after his NYSC in 1987. Thereafter, he worked across almost all sectors of the economy. He worked with Akwa Ibom State Government owned Peacock Paints, serving as the Marketing Manager in Lagos; 33 Export Lager Beer, serving as the Area Manager, Makurdi; Glo GSM Network as pioneer Marketing Manager but later elevated to the position of Chief Operating Officer and eventually left Glo as Executive Director, Sales and Marketing. He, at some point also served as the Chief Marketing Officer, V-Mobile. Okon retired to consulting and later, farming in Mowe and Katsina. The Heritage Hotel was his latest and now last venture.
He was interested in the Governorship of Akwa Ibom State and first used the platform of the PDP. When this was not possible, he bought the gubernatorial ticket under the platform of the Accord Party. He was a consummate Marketer and Social Commentator. He loved the Internet and used it effectively as a vehicle for the propagation of his ideas on wide strata of subjects. He was aged 52.
We shall all miss him.

Nurse found guilty for trafficking women and using juju to force Nigerian women into prostitution

A British hospital nurse, who uses voodoo magic to enslave young Nigerian girls and transport them to Europe for prostitution, was today found guilty in the first case of its kind in the UK.
Josephine Iyamu, aka Madam Sandra, formerly of south London, used a witch doctor to convince her victims they were under her control and exploited them to fund a lavish lifestyle. The 53-year-old was a ringleader of an international human trafficking crime network and lived in a huge Nigerian mansion complete with a servants’ quarters.

Iyamu charged each of her victims Euro 30,000 and Euro 38,000 to arrange for their travel to Europe, profiting from more than Euro 15,000 from one victim alone via wire transfers and cash payments.
Iyamu would first make the vulnerable women undergo “Juju” ceremonies which would involve them drinking blood containing worms and eating the heart of a chicken.
Describing the ritual ceremony, an officer said:
They were given blood containing worms to drink.
A chicken was used to hit her naked body on the back and on the chest. She had to eat the heart of the chicken which had just been killed. And the priest would cut their skin and mouth with a razor blade.
Iyamu then took snippets of her victims’ head and pubic hair and kept them in individualized packages and she told the girls: ‘You have now eaten from the devil and if you do not pay, the devil will kill you.’
After the juju ritual, the victims would then be forced to endure an arduous five-day journey to the Libyan coast. Sometimes, the journey saw them shot at, ambushed, and gang-ra.ped. They would then catch an inflatable boat crammed with hundreds of people to Italy before being moved into Germany to work as prostitutes.
Iyamu and her husband Efe Ali-Imaghodor, 60, were arrested at Heathrow Airport on August 24 last year after traveling back from Nigeria. Police found her in possession of seven mobile phones and more than 30 SIM cards and this linked them to a German human trafficking investigation. Officers also discovered a piece of paper detailing a list of items needed as part of the “Juju” ceremonies and another with telephone numbers of criminal associates.
Today, Iyamu was convicted by a jury of five counts of arranging to facilitate travel of another person for exploitation following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court. She was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice after paying Nigerian police to arrest one of the victims’ relatives in a bid to stop the woman giving evidence against them in the trial while both were in police custody in the UK.

Iyamu forced one of her victims to have an abortion in Italy after being ra.ped and impregnated on the journey, according to Kay Mellor, a senior investigating officer at National Crime Agency (NCA).
Ms Mellor said:
Despite still bleeding, Madam Sandra told her that she had to start work as soon as possible, she needed to pay the extra Euro 500 to cover the cost of the abortion.
German police found text messages from Iyamu to her victim forcing her to work as a prostitute while still bleeding from her operation.
The victim wrote: “Have you forgotten that you sent me straight back to work right after my abortion, even though I was still bleeding?”
Iyamu replied: “Time is dragging on. Pull your finger out!”
Following her conviction today, she will be sentenced on July 4.

Comedian Ali baba on Otedola tanker explosion – you can’t pray away lawlessness

Comedian, Ali Baba on his post on Instagram yesterday, attributed the tanker explosion that occurred at the Otedola bridge in Lagos yesterday evening to lawlessness.

Read the full gist the comedian wrote below;
”In organized societies, where traffic is a major issue, tankers and heavy duty vehicles move at night or at specified times. In developed climes, MOT agencies… are as serious as the police force. In some other climes, that have deep shores like we do, only one port can not be used for discharge of staples like fuel, and even then, fuel and transportation of inflammable contents are done in controlled methods.
We are a Lawless country. If government tries to organize these same tankers now, they will go on strike, shut down the economy and day to day running, and we will let them continue. Same thing with teachers… try to get them to go get retrained and be bwtter qualified to teach, they will strike and wr are back to status quo. We do not punish people who even chop monies meant for projects. Projects that have been captured in the budget and monies released.
The same people who chop the monies will now be in the ruling party and to prosecute them becomes a No No. And as nothing is done to them another person will do it. Just imagine. Nigerians died today because of avoidable precautions and failure to create policies and laws that have consequences that could have DETERRED that tanker from being on that road. But no. Law makers dont care. The Executives no send and the JUDICIARY is not jailing them. Bet me, more tankers will fall. Nothing will be done. Nothing”.
