Politician’s son killed in Kogi state by-election

Mr. Yahaya Umoru, the son of a House of Representatives aspirant, was stabbed to death during the by-election which held over the weekend in Kogi state.

Reports says, Yahaya Umoru was stabbed as he tried to resist attempts by some political thugs to snatch the ballot box at a polling unit in Lokoja.


According to reports, the thugs stormed the polling unit after the election and attempted to snatch the ballot box. But APC supporters at the polling unit, including Yahaya Umoru, resisted the attempt. Yahaya Umoru was stabbed in the process, Vanguard reports. He was confirmed dead at the hospital.

Police authorities in the state have vowed to apprehend Yahaya’s killers and urged youths in the state to remain calm and maintain peace and order.
