NURTW chieftain, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has now returned back to Nigeria after he traveled out of the country after being stabbed in the neck.

The Chairman of the Lagos chapter of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, was stabbed during a campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at Skypower Ground, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.

MC Oluomo was immediately rushed to Eko Hospital where he received treatment before he was flown out of the country.

A close aide of the union leader had confirmed that MC Oluomo would travel as plans had been concluded for his treatment by a specialist in the United States where he is a citizen.

No fewer than three police vans kept his guard at the hospital – Eko Hospital, prior to his travel to te US.

Politicians of different calibre were said to have visited the hospital, as security operatives screen everyone going in to see him.

MC Oluomo was among the people injured at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress campaign at the Sky Power Ground, Ikeja.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, caucus in the Senate, has vowed to resist any attempt by the presiding Officers of the National Assembly, to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that the Senate is set to reconvene on Tuesday, following the suspension of Walter Onnoghen, as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, and the appointment of Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, as the Acting CJN, by President Buhari. However, the Bukola Saraki-led caucus in the National Assembly, will be meeting tonight, ahead of the emergency Legislative sitting, on Tuesday.

Speaking on behalf of the APC Senators, former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, told Reporters, in Abuja, that the President did not breach the Constitution by his action. He said: “As members of the APC in the National Assembly, we will put the nation’s interest above any parochial or sectional consideration, in dealing with the issue. However, if anybody wants to start another trouble in the Senate over the issue, we are ready. We have the number, we have the strength, because we constitute the majority.

“It is just that the Senate Leadership wants to play to the gallery, otherwise, I do not see the same Leadership that accused the Judiciary of meddling in its affairs, now moving against the President, for fighting corruption in that arm of government.”

Recall that the Zamfara Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 16 presidential election.

The Governorship Candidate of APGA in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Sani, disclosed this during the party’s flag-off campaign in Gusau on Saturday, NAN reports. Sani said the party’s decision was taken following its satisfaction with the “President Buhari’s anti-corruption fight, solving the security challenges, job creation and agricultural policy.”

He said these policies tallied with APGA action plans to change the state of nation’s socio-economic condition.

Earlier in his remarks, the National Chairman of APGA, Dr Victor Ikechukwu, who was represented by the National Treasurer, Alhaji Ibrahim Kyafo, commended the orderly behaviour of the party faithful. He urged the electorate to vote wisely to ensure that the state elect desirable leaders that would move it out of the current political mess.

Recall also that the presidential candidate of Peoples Trust, PT, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has called on the international community to immediately impose sanctions on President Muhammadu Buhari, his aides and their family members over what he described as the violation of due process in the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of the Federation.

Responding to the suspension of the Chief Justice from office, the presidential hopeful in an interview also called on the National Assembly to yesterday, Olawepo-Hashim said: “This is very sad, it is condemnable and must be condemned by all lovers of democracy. It is an ominous return to dictatorship and a complete violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I call on members of the international community to immediately impose sanctions on the members of the executive branch at the federal government. These sanctions should include revocation of existing travel visas for them and their families and business associates including targeted asset seizures.

“I call on the president himself to step down and resign because he is leading Nigeria into chaos and anarchy. We fought so hard to install democracy and we paid dearly for it, we will not allow any group of people no matter how powerful they think they have become to take democracy down. This is not about politics, it is about democracy which we fought so hard to put in place in Nigeria. If he refuses to resign, the National Assembly should commence his impeachment immediately.”

BREAKING: Tears And Jubilation As Tribunal Deliver Judgement On Ekiti Election

The Ekiti state governorship petition tribunal sitting in Abuja has declared Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti as winner of the last governorship election in the state.

Fayemi victory’s was challenged by Kolapo Olusola of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The PDP Candidate, who scored 178,223 votes, as against Fayemi’s 197,459 votes, had filed a petition, alleging that the election was fraught with irregularities and that Fayemi who ran on  the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, could not be declared winner.

On Monday, the tribunal unanimously struck out Olusola’s case and ruled that Fayemi is the duly elected governor of the state.

Suleiman Belgore, chairman of the three man committee delivered the judgment.

Earlier, the State Police Commissioner, Asuquo Amba, has cautioned Politicians in the State, against illegal assemblies, or protests capable of igniting violence.

The Police Commissioner, who said that the Command would not allow anyone to destabilise the State, under the guise of protest over the outcome of the judgment, stated that the Command’s ‘Operation Make Ekiti Safe Squad’, is on ground to tame any unlawful assembly.

Amba, represented by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Caleb Ikechukwu, said: “This squad is a Joint Task Force, comprising the Police and other sister Agencies, with about 150 men.

“They are spread all over the State, and being overseen by the Police. So, they are on ground to stop any unlawful assembly, or stop any protest that could result in violence.

“Whoever loses at the Tribunal, still has the option of appeal; so, violence is not the best option, for it will not be tolerated”, he said.

it's coming as a shock as Polaris Bank is going to be put up for sale after the 2019 elections months after it was taken over from Skye Bank.

This was disclosed by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) spokesman, Jude Nwauzor, on Tuesday.

Speaking on plans for the sale of the bank, Nwauzor said:

“The election season has slowed down things. We would advertise for expressions of interest from investors after elections and commence the sale process”.

In September 2018, Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, had announced the revoking of the licence of defunct Skye Bank. Polaris was established as a bridge bank to assume the assets and liabilities of the bank.

Emefiele had said: “As a responsible and responsive regulator and in consultation with the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), we have decided to establish a bridge bank, Polaris Bank, to assume the assets and liabilities of Skye Bank.

The strategy is for the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) to capitalise the Bridge Bank and begin the process of sourcing investors to buy out AMCON. By this decision, the licence of the defunct Skye Bank is hereby revoked.”

The slain persons, according to sources, were killed in different locations within the area. It was gathered that the killings started three months ago when one of the cult leaders in the area was murdered, which triggered a reprisal that led to further killings.

One of the deceased simply identified as Sammy was shot dead at a drinking joint in the area last week. Residents, however, accused the police of being slow in arresting the criminals perpetrating the crime and restoring peace and order in the community.

Protesters shutdown Abuja, want Obasanjo put under house arrest over plot to destabilize Nigeria

The international community and the Federal government of Nigeria have been urged to question former president, Olusegun Obasanjo on his alleged plot to destabilize the country. The Concerned Nigerian Masses, which made this call, said Obasanjo should also be put under house arrest ahead of the general elections. The group said it has followed the events in the political atmosphere in Nigeria with keen interest especially as it concerns the presidential elections in Nigeria and is therefore of the opinion that urgent and proactive steps need to be taken to arrest the plot by some agents of darkness towards plunging the country into a crisis of phenomenal proportion. A speech delivered by Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi on behalf of Concerned Nigerian Masses on a protest march from the Unity Fountain Abuja to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, warned that if urgent steps were not taken, Nigeria might go up in flames. According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Newcastle United are set to tie up a loan deal for Lazio left back Jordan Lukaku in the coming days.

The Magpies have yet to make a signing in this month’s transfer window, but it’s clear that Rafael Benitez needs to bring in another left back before the deadline a week today.

Paul Dummett needs competition at left back, and the likes of Milad Mohammadi and Antonio Barreca have both been linked with moves to St James’ Park in recent days.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that Newcastle are tying up a loan deal for Lazio’s Lukaku, which would involve the option of a permanent deal at the end of the season.

It’s claimed that the deal ‘is done’, and Lukaku will become a Newcastle player imminently having started just one Serie A game so far this season.

The 24-year-old had a knee injury to start the season and hasn’t really returned, making six substitute appearances in Serie A as he looks to get back up to speed.

Lukaku will now seemingly join brother Romelu in the Premier League, and his addition will provide Newcastle with a real attacking threat from left back.

Lukaku has blistering pace and strength to get up and down the left flank, but also quality on the ball and with his delivery into the box, meaning that Newcastle could have landed a real coup if they can get Lukaku fully fit and firing again.

BARCELONA forward Lionel Messi is closing in on a huge goalscoring record that was set by Pele in 1974.

Messi recently scored his 400th goal in La Liga and his 24 goals this season means he is showing no signs of slowing down.

The Argentina captain has a total of 576 goals in 660 appearances for his belovedBarcelona, after making his debut in 2004.

Pele, who played for Santos between 1956 and 1974 scored a total of 619 goals in 638 games.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who wouldn’t rule himself out of beating Pele’s total, has scored an impressive 589 goals in 789 games.

However, the Portuguese international is 869 days older than fellow five-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi - giving the Argentine the advantage.

Pele recently refused to be compared with 31-year-old Messi, due to him not being versatile enough, despite the striker getting ever closer to his record.

“How can you make a comparison between a guy who heads the ball well, shoots with the left, shoots with the right... and another who only shoots with one leg, only has one skill, doesn’t head the ball well?” Pele toldFolha de Sao Paulo.

Messi hasn’t responded to the comments made by three-time World Cup winner Pele, but recently told Marca that he never expected to be such a successful player.

I think I can answer.
I’m a Juventus fan that, I have to say it, once again is quite desperate as another year passes by with Juve going out from the UCL. 
Now, Cristiano Ronaldo shoved the ref in a 3–1 Clasico Real Madrid win, after getting his second yellow card, the first for pulling off his jersey after his goal, the second because of a dive right in the center of the Blaugrana area. 
A guy even that talented that goes out of a game because he first wanted to be cocky showing off his abs and then tried to fool everyone asking for a penalty does not deserve sympathy, especially in a 3–1 advantage situation in a Spanish Supercup final that for Real really is nothing.

Second situation: you have a legendary goalkeeper, a guy that is like Ronaldo for GKs, a guy who spent almost his entire career playing for Juve. Now this guy won it all: Serie A, Italian National Cup, even the World Cup in 2006 but he only has one trophy missing in his collection, the one cup that every great player needs to win: the Champions League. This guy saw Real score three at his home in Turin, this guy left that game knowing he would retire without winning the Champions League, and then played in a miracle: Santiago Bernabeu, Juventus is 3–0 against Real in and heroic effort heading to overtime to try once again to get to that final and win that cup that always flees at the last second. One minute and then is a war in overtime, and the best may win. And then what happens? A penalty. Yes, there probably was a penalty but it wasn’t that much clear and it was the 93rd of an heroic effort by Juve. Would the same ref whistle for a penalty in Barca’s remuntada against PSG last year? I don’t know. But let’s get back to Gigi: at 40, almost retired, he wants to get that cup and once again it seems that he won’t be able to win it, but he goes 3–0 at Bernabeu against the Galacticos and once again he has the chance of a lifetime to achieve the ultimate price and quit his career on the highest level. And a ref destroys everything. I’m not mad at the ref, but I think is normal to have sympathy for Buffon in this situation, being a Juve fan or just a football fun. So there’s your answer, enjoy.

JUNGLE JUSTICE! Eiye Cult Leader Beaten To Death After Several Gunshots Refused To Penetrate His Juju-Laced Body (Photos)

It was learnt that while they were in the area, a group of boys suddenly emerged and shot sporadically, a development which made people around the area scamper for safety. The late Olaleye was said to have made frantic effort to escape from the scene after several gun shots fired at him did not penetrate his body. He was said to have been attacked with cudgels before he died. Also, a yet-to-be-identified person was found dead at the scene of the incident.

The incident has, however, caused serious pandemonium in the town, as some youths staged a demonstration to protest the killing of the two suspected cult leaders. The protesters, who blocked major roads in the town, also prevented commercial and social activities from taken place in the affected areas. To this end, security has been beefed up in strategic locations in the town, to forestall possible reprisal from some groups of people who are said to be planning to avenge the death of the victims.
