U.S. Sows More WTO Turmoil by Vetoing Front-Runner for Top Job

  • Okonjo-Iweala cleared a key hurdle but U.S. digs in behind Yoo
  • Selection of first female WTO chief faces chance of stalemate

The World Trade Organization’s effort to select a leader and chart a new course for the global trading system hit a roadblock Wednesday after the Trump administration vetoed front-runner Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s bid to be the WTO’s next director-general.

Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Dennis Shea said Washington won’t join a consensus to appoint Okonjo-Iweala because the U.S. supports her opponent, South Korean Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee, according to WTO spokesman Keith Rockwell.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has pushed for Yoo even though Okonjo-Iweala gained American citizenship in 2019. Sources close to him say he views Okonjo-Iweala, a longtime top official at the World Bank, as being too close to pro-trade internationalists like Robert Zoellick, a former USTR from the Bush administration who worked with her when he was president of the Washington-based bank.

The U.S.’s lone resistance to the majority-backed Okonjo-Iweala opens the possibility of months of gridlock over the selection process and more diplomatic friction with trading partners like the European Union.

“I’m surprised and disappointed in the U.S. reaction,” said William Reinsch, a trade official in the Clinton administration and senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “I had hoped Lighthizer would have more respect for the institution than that.”

WTO decisions are made by a consensus of its 164 members, which means a single country -- especially the world’s largest economy -- can create a stalemate to pressure others. The Geneva-based institution will keep working to reach a consensus ahead of meeting of the General Council tentatively set for Nov. 9.

‘Urgent Challenges’

“Dr. Ngozi looks forward to the General Council on Nov. 9 when the committee will recommend her appointment as director-general,” said Molly Toomey, a spokesperson for Okonjo-Iweala. “A swift conclusion to the process will allow members to begin again to work, together, on the urgent challenges and priorities.”

Yoo didn’t respond to Bloomberg’s requests for comment, and the USTR didn’t immediately provide comment.

The U.S. election, which falls on Nov. 3, is now a key factor in the WTO race and the institution’s search for direction that seemed to be nearing a conclusion is now getting tangled in American politics.

If Trump wins, his aides have indicated they plan to continue to reshape the WTO with a narrower scope to resolve trade disputes.

If former Vice President Joe Biden wins, it is likely WTO members will postpone the meeting until after the inauguration on Jan. 20, according to sources familiar with the matter. Even then, it might be several months after Biden takes office before the Senate could confirm a Trade Representative who would craft U.S. positions at the WTO.

The setback in the leadership race came after Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s former finance minister, received a key endorsement earlier Wednesday from the WTO selection committee despite the U.S.’s expressions of support for Yoo. The EU, Japan, and much of Africa and Latin America are pushing for Okonjo-Iweala.

China said it supported the outcome of the WTO process, Rockwell told reporters following Wednesday’s meeting.

The EU reiterated its commitment to remain engaged.

“The selection of the WTO director-general is critical for the future of the organization,” the European Commission, the EU’s Brussels-based executive arm, said in an emailed statement on Wednesday. “There are now two candidates announced as finalists, both strong and experienced. It is now for WTO members to make their final choice, which will happen over the next days.”

If it’s not possible for the General Council to agree on a consensus candidate, WTO members could consider holding a vote to select the next WTO director-general by a qualified majority. Okonjo-Iweala would likely win such a vote but such a development would be unprecedented and systemically harmful for the consensus-oriented WTO.

Okonjo-Iweala, 66, twice served as Nigeria’s finance minister and is chair of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization. She campaigned as a WTO outsider and a reformer who told Bloomberg she plans to bring a “fresh set of eyes” to a deeply dysfunctional organization.

The Trump administration has played a key role in the the WTO’s descent into disorder. In December, the U.S. precipitated the the paralysis of the WTO appellate body, which previously had the final say on trade disputes involving the world’s largest economies.

Cristiano Ronaldo tests positive for COVID-19 for the third time, ruling him out of Champions League clash with rival Lionel Messi

Juventus striker, Cristiano Ronaldo has been ruled out of Wednesday's Champions League match against Barcelona after testing positive for coronavirus for the third time.

The Portuguese international, 35, has been self-isolating since he tested positive while on international duty with Portugal on October 13. He returned another positive result last week, and was made to take another test ahead of Juventus' clash against Barcelona on Wednesday

According to Sky Italy, Ronaldo failed to test negative 24 hours ahead of kick-off, as required by UEFA in order to play, meaning his potential reunion with Lionel Messi will not happen tomorrow.

The arch-rivals, who both have 11 Ballon D'or titles between them (Ronaldo, 5, Messi, 6), have not faced each other in the Champions League since the semi-final between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the 2011-12 season.

Everything you need to live well LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS

Everything you need to live well
    LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS

Communication brings lovers together and makes it easy for them to build chemistry and love. The conversations you have with your significant other play a strong role in determining how happy, fun and strong your relationship will be.

No matter how difficult some topics may seem sometimes, discussing them will help ease a lot of tension and leave room for your relationship to grow. You’ll also find that you both understand each other better.

    Couple arguing. Photo: Owambe

It doesn’t matter whether you are in a new relationship or you’ve been married for years. These topics will not only help you get closer to your lover; it will also give you ideas on what to talk about when it feels like you are running out of topics. And you can always refine and repeat them as you and your partner will always have different answers each time they come up. This way, you’ll never run out of interesting conversations.

    1. Plans for the weekend (or a vacation)
It doesn’t matter whether it’s a frustrating Monday evening or Thursday night. Talking about your plans for the weekend and you’ll both have something exciting to look forward to. It will also motivate you to work and get through the week with much enthusiasm. Planning way ahead of time for a vacation or that little getaway also gives you both things to discuss and deliberate on. So plan on!

    2. Work
A simple “how did your day go” and an honest answer can lead to a conversation you will both cherish. And there is always something to talk about work. From a weird colleague to a bad boss to the tasks you have to complete, these conversations will help you both understand each other’s professional sides better.

    3. Sex
Sexual intimacy is as important as romantic gestures. Talk about what turns you on, the positions or toys you’d like to try, your sexually sensitive spots, your secret fantasies and every other thing related to sex. This will both be exciting and revealing at the same time, and you’ll find yourselves discovering new things about each other. However, this also includes problems in bed. Speak up about them or they will eventually turn around and bite you in the back. If your partner is not performing as expected or your sex drive has reduced drastically, talk about it. Think of or suggest new ways of handling it together and you will be one step towards overcoming these issues.

    4. Pay compliments
Tell your partner the things you like about them. Make a habit of appreciating their personality or little things they did the day before, even the ones they didn’t realise that they were doing. Appreciating people encourages them to do more.

    5. Worries
What is bothering or worrying you? Simple question, right? But this is something that will make your partner feel loved and cared for. They may have no worries, but the thought that you care will make them cherish being in a relationship with you. Also talk about health issues, whether they are easy to mention.

    6. Secrets
Talking about secrets is fun, telling but fun. You can turn it into a game where you each reveal a new dirty, little secret. It will help you get to know each other intimately.

    7. Shows and Movies
Well, this always gives you something to talk about. New shows and movies come out every week. Watch one together and talk about it. Laugh at them for crying when Mufasa died while you watched Lion King again.

    8. The future and the past
The past may not always be fun and exciting to talk about, but there will surely be hilarious moments to mention, like the times you did silly things as a child or your childhood dreams. You do not need to talk about painful memories like past relationships or go into sexual details. Talk about your plans for the future: the goals you have, your dreams, aspirations and life pursuits. Tell them what you intend to do. This will help the both of you understand each other’s views. Talk about where you see yourselves as a couple in five years. Make goals that will urge you both to work towards strengthening your relationship.

    9. Places
Talk about your favourite restaurants, that bukka you just discovered in the next street, a dream location you stumbled across on the internet, places you’d like to visit over the weekend or on special days, or a cool spot you could both sit silently or make out in. It will give you both the chance to explore these places together.

    10. Personal interests
What do you truly enjoy doing? Share these thoughts with your partner and see which interests conflict and which ones complement one another. When these interests complement each other, try doing them together as it will bring you closer.

    11. Family and friends
Knowing (about) your partner’s friends takes you a step closer to learning more about them. Also, talking about each other’s families provides you with hours and hours of interesting gist. You may have to consciously stop yourselves. This also makes first introductions to family and friends easier and more fun.

    12. Opinions and preferences
Never hold your thoughts back from someone you love. Speak up and state your personal opinions. Talk about each other’s likes and dislikes. Preferences and opinions change with time and new information. The more you know about each other’s preferences, the better you know about them.

    13. Improvement
Talk about your flaws and the ways you’d like to improve. Releasing your vulnerabilities freely will help your partner relax more around you and they will break down their own walls and talk about theirs too. Offer and receive advice and suggestions on ways you can both improve yourselves.

    14. Offer to help
Offer to help your partner with something, regardless of whether it is an easy chore or a hard one. Working together on a task brings you closer together. Plus they will be glad you helped. Talk about ways you can help them around the house with chores and housework.

    15. Proud moments
Ask your partner to tell you about the moments in life when they’ve felt really proud of their own achievements. Memorable moments and childhood memories always provide for hours of fun, hilarious conversations.

Save the people, Buhari’s wife tweets

    Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja

The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has called on her husband, Muhammadu Buhari, and service chiefs to “save the people”.

Mrs Buhari tweeted a video of her husband Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in a meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, accompanied with the Hausa word, #Achechijamaa, which means “save the people”.

A Hausa song calling on the President to save the North was also playing in the background.

The song loosely translates as “Please look at our condition. We need your help. The North is crying. There is insincerity. Our blood is being spilled. Our property is being destroyed. Intervene in our situation, baba.”

Thousands of Nigerians, mostly youths, have been protesting across major cities in the country demanding an end to police brutality and killings.

Some northern elements have also begun a protest calling on an end to banditry and insecurity across Nigeria.

End SARS: It’s no longer peaceful, we’ll not fold our hands – FG issues strong warning to protesters

The Federal Government has said that the ongoing nationwide protest is no longer peaceful, warning that it will not fold its hands and allow the country to be thrown into anarchy.

This is following the violence that has trailed the #EndSARS protests in some parts of the country, specifically the attack on Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State on Saturday.

Lai Mohammed, the minister of Information and Culture, gave the warning on Saturday when he featured on a late night Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) news programme, “Weekend File”.

He said the assassination attempt on Oyetola was a clear confirmation that the protests had been hijacked by hoodlums and people with ulterior agenda.

According to Mohammed, the original conveners of the #EndSARS protests might have meant well, but are no longer in control of the movement.

“Peaceful protest is an integral part of democracy and that is why the Federal Government in the last 11 days has treated the protesters in a very civilised manner,” Mohammed said.

“But, if you look at what happened to the governor of Osun state, it has gone completely beyond peaceful protest against excesses and abuse of power by the police.

“There is no where in the world where a government will folds its arms and allow the country to descend into anarchy.

“We are no longer dealing with #EndSARS but a volatile situation that can lead to anarchy if government does not take some very firm steps to protect the lives and livelihood of innocent Nigerians,” he said.

Mohammed said a protest where protesters are now blocking the roads and highway, cannot be said to be peaceful because workers are finding it difficult to get to their offices and back home while many Nigerians are stranded on the roads.

“We have nothing against peaceful protest but there are civilised ways of doing so,” he said.

“This is by going to a venue where you are not going to disturb other Nigerians because where your own right stops, other persons’ right begins,” he said.

The top five reasons women cheat on their partners revealed

The top five reasons women cheat on their partners revealed

If you are a married man and have been for a few years now, your wife could be cheating on you. Here’s why.
The survey of 2,000 people found that boredom was the most common reason behind women being unfaithful, followed by growing apart over lockdown, The Sun reports.
The findings, from IllicitEncounters.com , revealed that reconnecting with an old flame on social media was named as the next most common factor behind a break-up, followed by changing as a person.

The top reason why women cheat is boredom, while both men and women also found lockdown testing.Source:istock

And making up the top five was another common excuse — being drunk.

Interestingly the reasons why men cheat were very different, with blokes naming lack of sex as the top factor behind looking elsewhere.

But they were on the same page as women for the second reason, with boredom over lockdown also playing a part in them playing away.

In third spot was men believing they’re too young to settle down, while a one-night-stand was in fourth spot.

In fifth place was men seeing their mate cheat, and thinking they were also missing out on some side action.

Top five reasons men cheat include, ‘I need more sex’, ‘I got bored with my relationship in lockdown’ and ‘a mate cheated and I felt I was missing out’.Source:istock

The study also found that women first cheat three-and-a-half years after they get married.

Blokes seem to last a little longer in the relationship , with their eye only wandering after three years and ten months.
“The Seven Year Itch has been halved with relationships first hitting a rocky patch far earlier than in previous years,” IllicitEncounters.com sex and relationship expert, Jessica Leoni said.

“This trend has been going on for several years and it has been accelerated by Covid.

“Life’s too short to be stuck in a dull relationship where there is a little conversation and the sex is the same every time.”

Top 5 reasons women cheat include, ‘boredom’, ‘I’ve changed since my wedding day’ and ‘I lapsed when I was drunk’.Source:istock

She explained that people are sticking with their partners because they cannot afford to move but then getting fresh excitement by having discreet affairs.

“We expect the time when people first cheat to come down even faster over the next few years as unhappy partners increasingly live for the moment without thinking about the consequences.”

At least three persons died in Osogbo on Saturday as the #EndSARS protest turned violent.

The PUNCHgathered that one person, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, died at Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

A doctor in the hospital, who preferred anonymity, toldThe PUNCHthat the deceased died of gunshot injuries.

A security operative also confirmed that two others died at the Old Garage end of Osogbo.

Shortly after the governor arrived at the scene, the Osun State Coordinator of the #RevolutionNow Movement, Olawale Bakare, had demanded an apology from him for refusing to engage the protesters after nine days of protest.

Bakare also demanded immediate arrest and prosecution of a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, identified as Asiri Eniba.

Eniba was accused of sending thugs to attack the protesters.

While responding to the demands, Oyetola, after an apology to the protesters for failing to address them since the protest started, promised to make enquiry from the Commissioner of Police to ascertain the involvement of the NURTW boss in the alleged attack.

Nengi Exposes Kiddwaya in A New Interview And We Guess Erica is Taking Note

One of the most popular housemates of the just ended Big Brother Naija reality show which was dubbed Lockdown Edition is Rebecca Nengi Hampson, affectionately called Nengi.
She just poked her nose into the affairs of Kiddwaya and Erica’s seeming romantic affair by labeling the billionaire’s son as an unserious person and player. When Nengi was recently interviewed on Boombuzz where she was asked to describe Kiddwaya using three words that best suit him, she did not hesitate at all.

She described Kiddwaya as a player, kid, and unserious person. We guess she spilled this out because of the cat and mouse game Kiddwaya is playing with his love interest, Erica. We hope she is ready for the attacks that might soon be hurled her way by Kiddwaya’s loyal fans.

Never Shave These Parts Of Your Body No Matter What

Shaving is more of a daily routine and it can only be a temporary result to improve eyesight or hygiene. It's fast and cheap and most of us can do it before we go to work or before we go to work every day, but have you ever wondered what the outcome might be for you?
At worst, some people use casual razors in these areas, which is very bad, but have you ever wondered why hair grows in these areas? What is their purpose? And so on. In this article, we talk a lot about him and the areas he should not shave.

    Eyebrows

It was once a very popular eyebrow, but people later realize that it is very unnatural and soft. One reason why this area is not shaved is that the hair is dark and dull. Instead of shaving, try to scrub, straighten or knit.

    Neck
Some people shave the thinner hair around our necks, or sometimes the dark hair. These locks are there to adjust the temperature in the cold season. But it must be left to the best.

    The upper and lower edges

Women who are not blessed with adequate vaginal hair growth will see the rapid growth of facial hair as soon as they start shaving, and they will reproduce dramatically.

    Stomach
Commonly known as the stock wealth, if you resist the urge to shave and grow back when you shave, the result will be unattractive and unfriendly.

Presidential panel okays some protesters' demands, including psychological exam of redeployed SARS officers

Presidential panel okays some protesters' demands, including psychological exam of redeployed SARS officers

The Presidential Panel on the Reform of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has approved a list of fresh demands made by protesters who have demonstrated in the streets against police brutality over the past week.

After days of sustained protests, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, earlier this week dissolved the notorious SARS unit following its history of abuse of power and mandate.

However, protests already scheduled for this week have gone ahead with more planned as protesters are pressing for more comprehensive police reform.
The presidency announced in a statement on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 that the panel has approved the fresh demands after a multi-stakeholders meeting.

According to President Muhammadu Buhari's aide, Femi Adesina, the panel reaffirmed the constitutional rights of Nigerians to peaceful assembly and protest, and further affirmed the sanctity of life of every Nigerian and the role of the Police in protecting them.

Adesina said the panel affirmed the five-point demand as genuine concerns that will be addressed by the government.

Protests have especially turned bloody as police officers have used force or opened fire on protesters , with deaths recorded in Lagos and Oyo over the past few days.
Many protesters have also been arrested and assaulted by police officers for participating in the protests.

Demands approved by the panel includes an order for the IGP to halt the use of force against protesters, and order the unconditional release of arrested protesters.

The panel also recommended the psychological evaluation, training and retraining of disbanded SARS officials prior to redeployment to other units of the Force.

An independent investigation panel is also to be set up, within one week, to probe violations of human rights by the defunct SARS and other segments of the Force.

"An open call for Memoranda from members of the public whose rights have been violated by the defunct SARS and other segments of the Police will be released by the Commission within one week,"the statement said.

The panel said it is important that immediate steps are taken to restore public confidence and trust in the Police.

The panel had first presented a report on SARS reform to President Buhari on June 3, 2019.

The president had directedAdamu to work out the modalities for the implementation of the report within 3 months .
The panel said in Tuesday's statement the proposed reforms will be anchored on the basis of the White Paper on the report submitted last year.

The report was jointly authored by the Police, National Human Rights Commission, and the Federal Ministry of Justice.

Every Guy Likes A Thick Lady, But Only A Few Like Skinny Girls And Here’s Why

Every Guy Likes A Thick Lady, But Only A Few Like Skinny Girls And Here’s Why

I’m writing on the reasons why majority of men prefer thick women to skinny women.
First of all, if you are a man and you are reading this article right now, I will like to ask you, do you prefer a curvy lady or a skinny lady?

I know most of y’all will go for thick but only a free will say they like skinny girls, and the rest don’t really care, all they care is give them a beautiful girl and that would do, lol.

So before I dive into this, I’d like to ask the women reading this, do you prefer being thick or skinny?

    Ok let’s go.

3 reasons why the majority of guys like thick girls
Well when I say thick I don’t mean just thick, duh! I also mean beautiful and curvy so that also applies to thick (beautiful and curvy too but not slim). Here are the 3 major reasons why most guys prefer thick women to skinny women:

    1) They are presentable
Thick girls are presentable, but what do I mean by this? I mean that guys love the idea that their women can go places with them and not be looked down upon, that’s some guys minds for you, lol.

    2) They are competitive
When men go out with their friends they want it to be that they can brag about they women looks, their this and that. They want to always feel like their women are better or can be comparable with the other girls.

    3) Some men don’t think Skinny girls are a catch
Most skinny girls are really beautiful it’s just that men have their eyes on something else.

Nigeria vs Tunisia: Hard-fighting Cartage Eagles force Gernot Rohr's side to draw

Nigeria vs Tunisia: Hard-fighting Cartage Eagles force Gernot Rohr's side to draw

    - Nigeria vs Tunisia saw a better performance by the Super Eagles
    - Kelechi Iheanacho opened the scoring for the West Africans in the 21st minute
    - Algeria equalised just a minute before half-time courtesy a Mohamed Draeger strike
The Super Eagles put up a more impressive show on Tuesday night, October 13, following their 1-1 draw with the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

Both teams were inseparable after battling for supremacy at the the prestigious Jacques Lemans Hotel Die Zeit in St. Veit, Austria, where the Nigerians lost 1-0 to African champions Algeria four days earlier.

Coach Gernor Rohr made attacking changes to his side that started against Algeria, with Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho and Samuel Chukwueze leading the attack against Tunisia.

Kelechi Iheanacho ended his three-year goal drought when he wriggled his way out of the Tunisian defence before slotting past Ben Mustapha in goal to give Nigeria the lead; 1-0.
Super Eagles celebrate Iheanacho's goal by identifying with #SarsMustGoNow protest. #EndSWAT #NGATUN
    Image

And just minutes later, the Leicester City man missed another glorious opportunity to get another goal as he missed his spot-kick which was saved by the goalkeeper.

The 31-year-old shot-stopper Mustapha had fouled a goal-bound Musa who was played in by Everton star Alex Iwobi.

However, the North Africans restored parity in style after Kenneth Omeruo was beaten in the danger area before the ball was squared to Mohamed Draeger who found the roof of the net leaving goalkeeper Maduka Okoye hapless in goal.

Both teams went into the break 1-1, but it was a far better performance by the Nigerian team from their previous game against the reigning African champions.

The second half saw both teams make more tactical approach as the midfield was choked in their respective bids to keep more possession of the ball.

Although there were attempts by both teams to grab the winner, but somehow it ended in stalemate after 90 minutes. It ended: Nigeria 1-1 Tunisia.

Gernor Rohr's side will now focus on their AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone in November.

    IGP Dissolves SARS

….Puts Other Measures In Place To Protect The Citizens
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, has dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) across the 36 State Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where they hitherto existed.

The IGP, while noting that the dissolution of SARS is in response to the yearnings of the Nigerian people, observes that by this dissolution, all officers and men of the now defunct Special Anti-robbery Squad are being redeployed with immediate effect.

He said, “The IGP notes that the Force is not oblivious of the ever present need to combat armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the country which was before now the core mandate of the erstwhile Squad.”

He assures that a new policing arrangement to address anticipated policing gaps the dissolution of SARS would cause has been evolved and shall be announced in due course.

Makinde confirms #EndSARS protester dead, others injured in Ogbomoso

Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde has confirmed the death of one Jimoh Isiaka who died during the #EndSARS protest in Ogbomoso part of the state on Saturday.

The Governor, who also confirmed at least seven other persons were seriously injured during the protest, said the situation is highly regrettable.

Makinde, who is in Ondo in his capacity as Chairman of the PDP campaign organisation at the ongoing Ondo State governorship election, said he has contacted Commissioner of Police, Nwachukwu Enwonwu and other relevant agencies noting, investigations into what led to the unfortunate incident are still ongoing.

The Governor spoke on his social media handles, promising to pay a personal visit to the family of Jimoh Isiaka and pursue the investigations to a logical conclusion.

While calling for calm on the part of the people, Makinde appealed to Police to allow the residents protest peacefully without fear of being assaulted.

He said: “I have received with deep sadness the news of the passing of one of our children, Jimoh Isiaka, who was shot during the ENDSARS protest in Ogbomoso. He later died at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, earlier today.

“Also, at this same protest, Abdulrasaq Olawale, Oluwadamilare Gbolohunmi, and five other persons sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

“This situation is highly regrettable. I have contacted the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State, Nwachukwu Enwonwu, and other relevant agencies, and investigations into what led to the unfortunate incident are still ongoing. I pray that God grants the parents of Jimoh Isiaka the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

“The ENDSARS protests are a strong indicator of a systemic failure. It is a failure on the part of those who have been constitutionally empowered to protect the citizens. It again calls into question why State Governors are called Chief Security Officers of their state whereas, they do not have the necessary powers to control the police force.

“I will be paying a personal visit to the family of Jimoh Isiaka and I promise to pursue the investigations to a logical conclusion.

“Peaceful protests are a big part of our democratic process. The right to freedom of speech and assembly are guaranteed by our Constitution, and I will never support any attempt to rob citizens of their fundamental human rights.

“I call on all residents of Oyo State to please remain calm. I also call on the Police to allow residents of Oyo State protest peacefully without fear of being assaulted.

“Again, I express my deepest sympathies to the family of Jimoh Isiaka, may his soul rest in peace.”

Buhari, Osinbajo’s daughters join #ENDSARS campaign

The daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday took to social media to join the #ENDSARS protest which seeks to stop police harassment, brutality and extrajudicial killings.

Zahra Buhari-Indimi, who is the daughter of the President, posted a photo of clenched fists on her Instagram status with the words, #EndPoliceBrutality.

The Vice-President’s daughter, Kiki Osinbajo, also posted the same photo on Instagram with the caption, “Police Brutality Must End Now… #EndPoliceBrutality #EndSARS.”

However, many Nigerian youths asked them to convey the message to their fathers directly as this would be more effective than a mere social media post.

Thousands of youths have since Thursday been publicly protesting the excesses of the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.

The police outfit, which is originally mandated to tackle armed robbery, has in recent years been engaging in the arbitrary arrest of youths under the guise of tackling cybercrime.

Manchester United has completed the signing in of Amad Diallo, an Atalanta star.

Manchester United has completed the signing in of Amad Diallo, an Atalanta star.

Based on the procedure of signing players, to examine the health status of all players.

Manchester United has completely examined the health paperwork of an Atalanta player, Diallo Amad who is ready to leave for Manchester United.

    Image from facebook
Although it has taken a lot of time, but from the look of things, it has now been completed!,

all the needed vacations has been made and Manchester United found pleasure in the results, as the player in question might probably bring a lot of improvement to the club.

    Image from facebook

Amad is now set to move to Manchester United.

This is actually an interesting one for Manchester United because the player is highly praised in Italy, the star really looks more promising, he demonstrates, he is reliable.

    Image from facebook
Although he has not fully appeared well within the serie A to state vivid his ability to perform,

this still makes it somehow hard to know better about him, anyway we are waiting to see his display by January.

Manchester United fans have been demanding signings of players who can come and improve the performance of the team as soon as possible,

And it is like Diallo is a fit candidate to their demands, its looks like he will satisfy the need of the team's fans.

But can this actually be? Would he be able to put smiles on the faces of the team's fans?
Well all this shall surely come to pass, at least we shall know if he is as good as he is being talked about in Italy.

But we can't just expect him to change the team's performance as instant as he gets into it.

Since his movement to Manchester United is in January, let's look and see.

For now we don't need to say too much about him, let's wait until he is there.

Don't forget, share and follow for more news.

    Thank you.

Stop Using Tomatoes In These Foods, It's Not Good!

Stop Using Tomatoes In These Foods, It's Not Good!

Well alot of people love using tomatoes, in almost every food they are cooking, they put it in salad, rice, soups, beans. Obviously tomatoes make our food delicious and spicy but most of these food combination we do with tomatoes are wrong ans might disturb our digestive tracts.

Apart from the side effect on our digestive tracts, the food won't go as expected except you have been, used to eating concoction. Tomatoes contain malic acid and citric acid and consuming too much of these could make your stomach too acidic and cause heart burn or acid reflux.

The best way to use your tomatoes is to eat them as an on-the-go snack, toss them into a light salad, or slice them up and put them on a sandwich, it's hard to beat that fresh-from-the-garden, raw Tomato taste. Avoiding using tomatoes to cook the following five types of food, and you would enjoy the teste.

    1. Okra soup

I remember when i tried using tomatoes in okara just to impress my babe! Because she said she loved them, at the end of the they it ruined my soup... Tomatoes and okra does not go well... Not as you would expect it do

    2. Effo riro

Once you use tomatoes in efi eriro believe me, you have done it! Your soup has gone south and you might find it difficult to eat...

    3. Rice And coconut

How people enjoy coconut rice with tomatoes in eat, how did they get it done in the first place... Well just remove them completely, i have tried using tomatoes here to it dint go well, and believe you will end up having running stomach.

    4. Beans Porridge

Tomato and beans are not good friends and i will advice you to stop using them together, we all know beans contain tons of protein which will not digest well when their is acidic enzyme in the body. Unless you’re making a separate stew for the beans.

    5. Finally Egusi Soup

I have seen alot of people doing it, and seriously i don't know how it feels to them, but believe me when i tried it, it doesn't taste well. Except you are cooking the egusi like stew. Even then, e get as e be. Some tribes in Nigeria add it though. Something about preference. But raw it won't werk!

After N1 Million Was Mistakenly Sent To Her By A Man, This Is What A Girl Did In Edo State

Mixed reactions as Girl flees with the N1 million that was mistakenly sent to her by a man who wanted to help her in Edo State.
After receiving the money, she met and told a herbalist (Babalawo) to make the man forget about the money.
According to the man who fell victim, he said that the girl’s name is Josephine and they met on Facebook.

When the girl’s disturbance became too much, he promised to send her some money and the girl hurriedly sent her phone number and account number where he will transfer the money to.
After some days, the young man decided to send her the money but mistakenly transferred N1 million to her which was a payment he wanted to make to his business associate.

Upon sending her the N1 million, he still went ahead and sent N5000 to her without even knowing that he had already sent N1 million to her by mistake.

    The Girl’s Boyfriend
When the young man realised his mistake, he started calling the girl so as to rectify things with her, but her numbers were off.

Hours later, she was finally contacted and when the young man started talking about the money he mistakenly transferred, but she blatantly told the man to stop calling her that he has been scammed.

Few days later, the young man visited State CID (police station) and complained about the issue and the girl was finally tracked and arrested alongside her boyfriend.

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has released fresh guidelines for the reopening of schools nationwide. The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that this followed the earlier directive by the PTF that schools were free to reopen as of October 12.

Addressing journalists at Thursday’s briefing of the PTF in Abuja, the National Coordinator of the task force, Dr Sani Aliyu, said the fresh guidelines which schools must strictly adhere to were developed by the PTF in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Aliyu added, “Schools and educational bodies that plan to reopen must have detailed communication protocols that include parents, school health teams, school authorities, and local state officials.

“They must also have a system for providing regular updates to parents, staff, and relevant authorities as well as communicate changes to procedures effectively and clearly as well as taking effective measures to understand how COVID-19 can spread and how to mitigate the spread in line with official guidelines.

“Specifically, school authorities have the responsibility to ensure that everyone gaining access to their schools is screened properly, is wearing a mask and sanitising their hands.

“Boarding schools must have identified areas for screening and putting positive students aside.

“There must be access to running water and handwashing facilities.

“The health staff, particularly in boarding schools, must be trained and provided with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

“There must be appropriate waste management systems.

“Health facilities that are within the schools that serve the schools should have the ability to cater to an outbreak and a response protocol must be in place for these schools for students who test positive. In this regard, it is important to involve their parents and make sure that parents have signed consent forms in advance.

“Schools should also work in synergy with the local government rapid response teams and collaborate with the state ministries of health on planning, implementation, and reopening of schools.

“We encourage schools to consider creative solutions to abide by these guidelines.”

The Coordinator also said that the Independent National Electoral Commission would enforce the no-face-mask-no-voting directive in the forthcoming governorship election holding on Saturday in Ondo State.

Aliyu said with 1.5 million eligible voters in 3,000 polling units across 18 Local Government Areas of the state, the election “is clearly a huge exercise” which would also come with its risk.

He also urged the “17 candidates in the election to live by example” by adhering strictly to the COVID-19 guidelines.
