Nigeria vs Tunisia: Hard-fighting Cartage Eagles force Gernot Rohr's side to draw
- Nigeria vs Tunisia saw a better performance by the Super Eagles
- Kelechi Iheanacho opened the scoring for the West Africans in the 21st minute
- Algeria equalised just a minute before half-time courtesy a Mohamed Draeger strike
The Super Eagles put up a more impressive show on Tuesday night, October 13, following their 1-1 draw with the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
Both teams were inseparable after battling for supremacy at the the prestigious Jacques Lemans Hotel Die Zeit in St. Veit, Austria, where the Nigerians lost 1-0 to African champions Algeria four days earlier.
Coach Gernor Rohr made attacking changes to his side that started against Algeria, with Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho and Samuel Chukwueze leading the attack against Tunisia.
Kelechi Iheanacho ended his three-year goal drought when he wriggled his way out of the Tunisian defence before slotting past Ben Mustapha in goal to give Nigeria the lead; 1-0.

And just minutes later, the Leicester City man missed another glorious opportunity to get another goal as he missed his spot-kick which was saved by the goalkeeper.
The 31-year-old shot-stopper Mustapha had fouled a goal-bound Musa who was played in by Everton star Alex Iwobi.
However, the North Africans restored parity in style after Kenneth Omeruo was beaten in the danger area before the ball was squared to Mohamed Draeger who found the roof of the net leaving goalkeeper Maduka Okoye hapless in goal.
Both teams went into the break 1-1, but it was a far better performance by the Nigerian team from their previous game against the reigning African champions.
The second half saw both teams make more tactical approach as the midfield was choked in their respective bids to keep more possession of the ball.
Although there were attempts by both teams to grab the winner, but somehow it ended in stalemate after 90 minutes. It ended: Nigeria 1-1 Tunisia.
Gernor Rohr's side will now focus on their AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone in November.
