Just In: See How Arsenal will Lineups with Thomas Partey

Mikel Arteta’s side have finally got their man as they ended the summer transfer window with a bang.
The Gunners have completed the signing of powerful central midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid on deadline day.

Mikel Arteta’s side met the £45million release clause in the Ghana international’s Atletico contract. He will wear the No 18 shirt.

The 27-year-old had been heavily linked with Arsenal throughout the transfer window and a deal has now come to fruition.

Atletico Madrid’s statement says La Liga informed them that the release clause for Thomas Partey was paid 32 minutes before the deadline.
He joins Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian and the returning Dani Ceballos as Mikel Arteta’s major signings this summer.

But how will the Arsenal head coach fit his new 27-year-old enforcer into the starting XI?

Here’s the how the Gunners could soon look…
Mikel Arteta has often toyed with two formations but the addition of a Patrick Vieira type allows him to deploy a 4-3-3 to greater effect.

It means that Bernd Leno continues as number one goalkeeper whilst he’ll be protected by David Luiz, Kieran Tierney, Gabriel Magalhaes and Hector Bellerin in a back four.

The Ghanaian powerful central midfielder takes a place in just front as the Gunners’ new anchorman, which could in turn allow both Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos some freedom in the attacking transition.
Without signing of Houssem Aouar or Mesut Ozil, Mikel Arteta lacks an out-and-out number ten so the addition of Thomas Partey could be a game-changer for the Swiss and Spaniard duo.

On the right flank, Willian may well get the nod over Nicolas Pepe while captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang occupying the left wings.

Alexandre Lacazette remained at the club despite being linked with an exit, so he’ll lead the line for the Gunners in 2020/21 campaign.
