NYSC Saga: Shittu ‘exposes’ Ajimobi, Says He Also Skipped The Scheme

Following his disqualification from the Oyo gubernatorial race by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for skipping NYSC, Communications Minister, Adebayo Shittu, has claimed Governor Abiola Ajimobi equally skipped the mandatory national youth service scheme.

The ruling APC had on Friday disqualified Shittu from the Oyo governorship race after the minister admitted that he deliberately skipped NYSC because he felt his membership of the Oyo House of Assembly after he graduated from the university had served as national youth service.

But in a revelation he made on Channels Television flagship programme “Politics Today” on Sunday, Shittu said Ajimobi, who recently indicated that he would be running for senate after his tenure as governor, allegedly does not have NYSC certificate.

The minister said the NYSC saga over which he was disqualified was allegedly ochestrated by Governor Ajimobi to get him out of the race because the governor knows that he will jail him if he becomes governor of Oyo State.

He equally claimed to have petitioned the National Working Committee of the APC over his disqualification. He dedcribed the indirect governirship primary as an exercise in futility.

Shittu further stated on the programme that he has gone to court and that he believed he would get justice. The minister described his NYSC saga as a constitutional crisis that would be resolve by the court.

Lagos APC gubernatorial primary to be moved again as Abuja intervenes

The Lagos APC governorship primary is set to be moved again following the intervention of the national secretariat in the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party, TheCable understands.

Akinwunmi Ambode, the governor, is being challenged by Jide Sanwo-Olu, the preferred choice of Bola Tinubu, former governor of the state and a national leader of the APC.

The APC governorship primary was moved from Tuesday to Saturday, and later to Sunday.

But the Lagos primary was moved to Monday in the hope that the crisis between Ambode and Tinubu, his erstwhile godfather, would be resolved.

TheCable has learnt that the primary may be moved to Tuesday or Wednesday to allow the national secretariat solve a number of issues in the state.

“For instance, Ambode does not even have the new APC membership card,” a source in the national exco told TheCable.

“He cannot vote if the primary holds on Monday. The producers of the card did not hand over the cards to the national secretariat as expected but handed them directly to the Lagos party exco. This has led to a lopsided distribution that may impact on the final result.”

Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the party, is due in Lagos on Monday to personally see to the resolution of the crisis.

There are suggestions that party members should be allowed to use the slip that was issued to them after registration.

It is thought that the distribution of the membership cards is not in favour of Ambode, who launched an astonishing attack against Sanwo-Olu on Sunday afternoon.

Tinubu insists on Sanwoolu, lists Ambode's sins

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has called Jide Sanwo-Olu a better candidate at the Lagos governorship primaries.

The former governor of Lagos state said Sanwo-Olu is a young man endowed with superlative vision and commitment and who also possesses a wealth of experience and exposure.

In a statement published on his Twitter account, Tinubu said Sanwo-Olu is the preferred candidate because he understands the importance of the blueprint for development of Lagos state.

“While possessing a wealth of experience and exposure, he is a young man endowed with superlative vision and commitment. Most importantly, he understands the importance of the blueprint for development.

“He esteems it as a reliable and well-conceived vehicle for the future development of the state. He also knows the value of reaching out and working with others in order to maximize development and provide people the best leadership possible.”

He also gave a hint of his grouse with the embattled governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode.

Tinubu accused Ambode administration of being selfish and deviating from the masterplan for the development of Lagos State. He accused the governor of not carrying everybody along in the administration of the state.

Ambode who is seeking a second term in office is facing a serious challenge from another aspirant Babajide Sanwo-Olu, propped up by Tinubu who has passed a vote of no confidence in the governor.

Earlier in the day, Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said Sanwo-Olu, who is being backed by many, is not fit to govern Lagos state.

He went further to say the governorship aspirant was allegedly arrested for spending fake American Dollars at a nightclub in the United States of America.

Jose Mourinho Sacked latest; odds as Man Utd price plummets, West Ham boss safe

JOSE MOURINHO is now the clear favourite to be the first Premier League manager sacked this season.

Jose Mourinho SACK latest odds: The Man Utd is favourite to leave (Image: PA)

Manchester United have endured their worst start to a Premier League season ever.

The Red Devils drew to Wolves last weekend and followed that up with a defeat to West Ham on Saturday.

Mourinho’s men are also out of the EFL Cup and tensions among the squad are riding high.

Reports emerged on Saturday that United are looking to replace the boss - although the club denied those claims.

Nevertheless, the bookies have cut their prices on Mourinho being the first to leave yet again, following the 3-1 loss to West Ham.

Mourinho is now 11/10 with Unibet to lose his job.

The odds have shortened as Manchester United’s poor results are coupled with an upturn in form at other sides.

West Ham’s Manuel Pellegrini was the favourite to lose his job four games into the campaign but he is now seemingly safe at 20/1 to be the first man axed.

Neil Warnock’s is now 6/1 to be let go by Cardiff. Another manager under increasing pressure is Southampton’s Mark Hughes after they lost 2-0 at Wolves on Saturday.

However, it appears so likely that Jose Mourinho will get the chop first that Hughes - whose side sit 15th in the table - is only 5/1 to leave before the Portuguese.

Next up for United is a home tie with Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday, before they host Newcastle the following Saturday.

They then play Chelsea and Juventus before the October international break.

Zidane preparing for Manchester United job

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is taking English lessons so he will be able to take over the manager’s job at Manchester United. Zidane has been out of the game since unexpectedly walking away from Los Blancos after they won the Champions League last season but he is said to be very keen to take over at Old Trafford if the job were to become available.

Current boss Jose Mourinho appears to be under increasing pressure in the role as he continues to be at loggerheads with members of his squad, and Paul Pogba in particular.

Reports claim if the season ends on a sour note without any silverware then his tenure could be up and Zidane is said to be ensuring he is ready to step straight into the post if and when the call comes.

FIFA ready to take legal actions against Ronaldo and Messi

The World football governing body FIFA are taking Messi and Ronaldo’s decision to ignore awards legally. FIFA president Gianni Infantino is not a happy man. The Fifa president has not taken kindly to the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi from this year’s The Best awards ceremony in London, considering the decision by the game’s two biggest stars to constitute an effective boycott of the world governing body.

Both players have dominated the FIFA awards for like a decade, but Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric put an end to their dominance not only in FIFA awards but also in the UEFA awards.

Lionel Messi and Ronaldo are known for missing awards when it obvious one of them won’t clinch the grand prize.

The two world class stars have always made it to the FIFPro XI each year since they came into limelight but their absence at the awards always leave a gap in the group picture for the team of the year.

And to ensure there are no further gaps in the photo shoot when the year’s best 11 players gather to receive their awards, Infantino has instructed Fifa’s legal department to seek a way to enshrine attendance by the full list of nominated finalists at the annual ceremony in law.

Infantino’s predecessor in the position, Sepp Blatter, found himself in the eye of the storm in 2013 when during a question and answer session at the Oxford Union he expressed a preference for Messi and mocked Ronaldo’s “hairdresser expenses” while comparing his on-pitch style as that of “a commander,” performing a little routine on stage impersonating the Portuguese.

This elicited a withering response from Ronaldo, who demanded an apology from Blatter.

“This video shows clearly the respect and consideration that Fifa has for me, for my club and my country. Much is explained now. I wish Mr Blatter health and a long life, with the certainty that he will continue to witness, as he deserves, the successes of his favourite teams and players,” the Portuguese posted on social media.

It was forthcoming, privately via a telephone call and publicly with a social media release in which Blatter said he had meant no offence.

Only after that did Ronaldo agree to attend the 2013 Fifa Ballon d’Or ceremony (when both awards were combined into one), which he subsequently won, sparing Blatter the ignominy of handing over the prize to a stand-in.

Why I support Sanwoolu against Ambode

All Progressives Congress (APC)  National Leader,  Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu  on Sunday justified his support for  Babajide Sanwo-Olu  as the governorship candidate  of the All Progressives Congress instead of the incumbent Akinwunmi Ambode.

He said he is not supporting Ambode because he ignored the blueprint for progress in Lagos State, thus contravening the spirit of progressive governance.

It was Tinubu’s first statement over the controversy stirred by the APC chiefs and entrenched interest groups in ditching Ambode for the second term.  And it came on the eve of the governorship primary slated for Monday.

Tinubu totally ignored the concerns raised earlier at a world press conference  by Ambode about the party’s anointed candidate:  Sanwo-Olu being jailed in America for fake US dollars  and his spending time at a Lagos rehab centre for mental problems.

Tinubu, in his statement harped on the  development  master plan his administration bequeathed to the state and lamented how the Ambode administration has  jettisoned it for what he called ” ad-hoc schemes of a materially inferior quality”.

He said that such narrowness of perspective has not brought the people closer to their appointed destination.

According to him,  it has taken the people farther from that destiny.

”My goal is and shall always be a better Lagos. To this objective, I have dedicated the greater part of my public life. Roughly 20 years ago, a corps of dedicated and patriotic Lagosians, put aside personal interests and rivalries, to put their minds and best ideas together for the good of the state.

”Out of this collaborative effort, was born a master plan for economic development that would improve the daily lives of our people.

”When I was elected governor in 1999, my administration faithfully implemented that plan. The government of my immediate successor, Tunde Fashola, also honoured this enlightened plan.

”Where state government remained true to that blueprint, positive things happened. During my tenure and Governor Fashola’s, Lagos state recorded improvements in all aspects of our collective existence.

”I make no pretence that the master plan is perfect. It can always be fine-tuned.

”However, whenever a government departed from this plan without compelling reason, the state and its people have borne the painful consequence of the improper departure.

”For reasons unknown to me and most Lagosians, we have experienced such deviations from enlightened governance recently.

”However, as a leader of the party and as a former governor of our beloved and excellent Lagos, I would be remiss if I did not make a few observations regarding the primary, ” he said.

Tinubu said that the trend of deviation called for concern as the party primary approaches to avoid irreparable harm that could be committed against the people and their future.

”For the record, let it be known that I shall vote in this primary because I see it as one of extreme import to our state and our party. Just as I shall vote, I equally urge all party members to do so. We must vote in a manner that returns Lagos to its better path, the one that promises a just chance for all to enjoy the fruits of our prosperity.

We must always pursue our goal of a Lagos energised by creative dynamism, tolerance of others, and guided by a leadership capable of extending a collegial hand to all stakeholders, far and wide, ” he said.

Tinubu urged the party delegates in the state to vote for the candidate who understands the importance of the blueprint for development.

”I am encouraged by the emergence of a candidate in this primary who has served the state in senior positions in my administration, the Fashola administration and even in the current one. While possessing a wealth of experience and exposure, he is a young man endowed with superlative vision and commitment.

”Most importantly, he understands the importance of the blueprint for development. He esteems it as a reliable and well-conceived vehicle for the future development of the state. He also knows the value of reaching out and working with others in order to maximise development and provide people the best leadership possible.

”With people like him at the helm, the state will write the proper history for itself. When the final word is given let it be said that we want all Lagosians to look to the future with the hope and optimism that our best days remain before us and not behind us.

”We walk into this primary strong and confidently believing in the right course we are to take. We shall emerge from this primary even stronger and more confident that we have taken that course by returning Lagos and our party to their finest path, ” Tinubu said.

Ambode’s second term ambition has been facing opposition within his party.

Party leaders are supporting another APC governorship aspirant, Mr Babajide  Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner in the state and the Managing Director, Lagos State Development and Property Corporation against the incumbent governor, Ambode.

Analysts view the development as a trying political season for Ambode, who has since announced his readiness for the party’s direct primary on Oct. 1 to slug it out with his opponent. (NAN)

Tinubu releases Lagos governorship primary statement after Ambode's brickbats

1. Tomorrow, our party and the people of Lagos will have an encounter with destiny. We shall hold our governorship primary.

2. With the holding of direct primaries to elect governorship candidates in Lagos and other states, the APC takes a groundbreaking step toward greater internal democracy and progressive governance for the benefit of all people.

3. While our party is young, it has grown fast and has travelled far in a short time. This speaks well of the character of you, the party’s rank-and-file members. What, in other nations, has taken political parties generations to achieve, we have done in a few brief years.

4. No other party in Nigeria dare attempt what we have already dedicated ourselves to do. I thank and commend all APC members and all Lagosians who have lent their support to this historic and humane mission upon which our party has embarked.

5. We are democrats in the truest sense of the word. As such, we forever search for what is good and right for the people. With this ideal as our guide, tomorrow’s primary cannot be shaded by selfish ambition or the perceived personal grievance between this or that person.

6. Something much greater waits in the balance. What is at stake is nothing less than the future of the people of this state and how we can best maximise our collective destiny. By resort to direct primaries, the party places the people’s future soundly in their hands.

7. As democracy would have it, you shall be the authors of the party’s nomination and hopefully our next state government. I trust in the wisdom of the people and will abide it. However, as a leader of the party and as a former governor of our beloved and excellent Lagos,

8. I would be remiss if I did not make a few observations regarding the primary. My goal is and shall always be a better Lagos. To this objective, I have dedicated the greater part of my public life.

9. Roughly 20 years ago, a corps of dedicated and patriotic Lagosians, put aside personal interests and rivalries, to put their minds and best ideas together for the good of the state.

10. Out of this collaborative effort, was born a master plan for economic development that would improve the daily lives of our people. Bestowed on me was the honour of a lifetime when I was elected to be your governor in 1999. My administration faithfully implemented that plan.

11. The government of my immediate successor, Tunde Fashola, also honoured this enlightened plan. Where state government remained true to that blueprint, positive things happened.

12. During my tenure and Governor Fashola’s, Lagos state recorded improvements in all aspects of our collective existence, from public health to public sanitation, from education to social services, from the administration of justice to the cleaning of storm and sewage drains.

13. Businesses, large and small, invested, hired millions of workers and thrived. All Lagosians were to fully participate and justly benefit from the social dividends and improvements wrought by this plan.

14. From the common labourer, to business leaders, to professionals and our industrious civil service. We all were to be partners in a monumental but joint enterprise.

15. None was to be alienated. None was to be left out. And none were to be pushed aside. This is especially true for those who contributed so much to our development, whether as a business leader who has invested heavily in Lagos...

16. the homeowner who struggles to pay his fair share of taxes or as someone employed in the hard work of keeping our streets and byways clean so that others may go about their daily tasks unimpeded.

17. I make no pretence that the master plan is perfect. It can always be fine-tuned. However, whenever a government departed from this plan without compelling reason, the state and its people have borne the painful consequence of the improper departure.

18. I am encouraged by the emergence of a candidate in this primary who has served the state in senior positions in my administration, the Fashola administration and even in the current one.

19. While possessing a wealth of experience and exposure, he is a young man endowed with superlative vision and commitment. Most importantly, he understands the importance of the blueprint for development...

20. ...He esteems it as a reliable and well-conceived vehicle for the future development of the state. He also knows the value of reaching out and working with others in order to maximize development and provide people the best leadership possible.

21. We walk into this primary strong and confidently believing in the right course we are to take. We shall emerge from this primary even stronger and more confident that we have taken that course by returning Lagos and our party to their finest path.

Sanwoolu was arrested in US for spending fake dollars in a nightclub

Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of Lagos state, says Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his opponent in the race to secure the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 is not fit.

Addressing a press conference at government house, Alausa, Ikeja, on Sunday, Ambode said Sanwo-Olu was arrested for fraud in the US.

“We have never responded to the campaign of calumny on social media. We have one family in APC. The aspirant being put up to compete against us is not a fit and proper person to take this job,” he said.

“I have done everything in the last three and half years to serve people selflessly and to serve the poor.

“This particular aspirant is somebody that hs been arrested for spend fake dollars in a nightclub in America, and he has been detained for months.

“He doesn’t have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at the Gbagada General Hospital. we don’t want to go to far. Our leadership should have a rethink.

“I plead with our leaders to have a rethink, It is not about me, it is about the opportunity that APC has.”

See what Davido said following his uncle's Osun's election defeat

The Nigerian star of Afropop, feted across Africa and the globe as a multi-millionaire singer-songwriter and record producer Davido  real name David Adedeji Adeleke  has recently been more focused on party politics and getting his uncle  Ademola Adeleke, dubbed “the dancing senator” because of his penchant for dancing in public elected as governor of his home state of Osun .

On Thursday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared APC’s Gboyega Oyetola the winner of the Osun State Governorship election in the state.

Oyetola polled a total of 255,505 votes after the collation of the results of the supplementary election in seven polling units across four local governments, while PDP’s Ademola Adeleke polled a total of 255,023 votes to come second.

But at the initial election which held last Saturday, Davido’s uncle scored the highest number of votes, beating Oyetola with 353 votes but INEC declared the election inconclusive and ordered a rerun because the number of cancelled votes in the seven polling units was far higher than the margin by which Adeleke beat Oyetola.

Following this supplementary votes on Thursday, Oyetola overtook and beat Adeleke with a total margin of 482 votes. Reacting to the outcome of the supplementary election, Davido wrote: ‘God knows best ! Best believe he will come thru soon,’ while replying to a Twitter user.

Davido’s intervention was undoubtedly the highlight of a state election that is being seen as test of President Muhammadu Buhari’s popularity in Nigeria’s southwest. The region, which includes Lagos, the country’s megacity of 20 million people, is a key electoral prize for any presidential hopeful and major political parties.

Davido, who has become a common sight on the campaign trail, dedicated his time all through the campain stages to making sure his uncle Ademola Adeleke wins which unfortunately took a different turn after INEC cancealed the first electio. The pop star took star billing at a rally in his hometown of Ede, performing some of his most popular tunes. The 25-year-old artist is currently carrying out his yearlong compulsory national service a far cry from the glitz and glamour of his private jet and a recent Africa tour.

He was pictured singing and dancing for fans on top of PDP vehicles in a field, delighting local party members and a throng of supporters. Billboards in the state also show pictures of the singer in traditional dress, leaning on an empty black leather chair next to the Nigerian flag. “I, Davido, support Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as governor of Osun State,” the roadside advertisements read.

While he may be better known as one of Nigeria’s most successful musical exports, Davido also comes from a well-known political dynasty. His grandfather, Raji Ayoola Adeleke, was a senator between 1979 and 1983 while another uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, was Osun’s first civilian governor from January 1992 to November 1993. The performer’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, is a wealthy businessman with interests in banking, property, education, shipping, haulage and oil and gas.

The last gubernatorial vote in the southwestern state of Ekiti in July led to widespread concerns about vote-buying by leading political parties. The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room coalition of civic groups said its monitors “observed widespread financial inducement and vote-buying in and around several of the polling units”.

The “brazenness” of the practice could undermine democracy, it added. The candidate of Buhari’s APC won the poll. Fear of political violence, which is never far from the surface in Nigeria, has also seen security reinforcements sent into Osun state. Police said 40,000 officers, two helicopters, 30 armoured personnel carriers, 300 patrol vehicles and sniffer dogs have been deployed to ensure the poll is peaceful. Buhari, who is seeking a second term, has promised February’s election will be free, fair and safe.

It would be recalled that in the wake of the Osun State re-run election that saw the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Mr Gboyega Oyetola emerge winner, the presidential media team has invited sensational singer, Davido to perform at the thanksgiving party of the new governor-elect.

Davido who was in active support of his uncle and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Adeleke had expressed his displeasure with the cancellation of the initial polls that took place last weekend with claims that APC planned to rig the governorship election hence the re-run.

The APC group however rubbished OBO’s claim calling him an ‘uninformed political novice’ who is inexperienced to dabble into political issues. Meanwhile, Mr Johannes Tobi, a member of President Buhari’s media team has extended an invitation to the ‘Assurance’ singer via twitter, asking for his willingness to perform at the forthcoming thanksgiving party of the governor-elect.

“Would you be willing to perform for the people of Osun at Oyetola’s thanksgiving party?” he wrote to Davido via the social media app. Whether or not the DMW boss will honour the presidency’s invitation remains unknown.

When She Asks Him Why He Loves Her

She asks him why he loves her because she doesn’t understand. Why would a guy like him love a girl like her, and how? What did she do to be so lucky? What did she do to deserve his love?

“Why do you love me?” she asks. And he looks at her, not like she’s crazy, but like he’s wondering how she could be so beautifully unaware, unaware of the fact that he simply loves her the way she deserves to be loved. That his love is effortless because of the person that she is.

He loves her because she’s there for him. Because when he feels like his life is slowly falling apart, somehow she’s picking up the pieces before it even happens. Because when he comes home from work and has had the worst day ever, she listens, and she doesn’t make him feel bad for harbouring negativity, or for venting it on her, she knows that he just needs someone to hear him. He loves her because she listens.

He loves her because she doesn’t try to change him. She doesn’t lay a list of things down that she wish he would do, or say, a list of qualities she wishes he would embody. She doesn’t wish he were anything other than who he already is, and he loves her because she seems to enjoy and support the person he continues to become.

He loves her because she doesn’t apologize for being herself. She doesn’t apologize for crying through an argument that doesn’t make sense. She doesn’t apologize for reacting, whether it’s excitement or anger or joy. She doesn’t apologize for her feelings. He loves her because she doesn’t say sorry for being the person that she is, having the feelings that she feels, or acting on the reactions those feelings cause.

He loves her because when she does apologize, it’s for messing up. And he loves her because she doesn’t expect the apology alone to fix it. She doesn’t expect the apology to erase her bad decisions, to wipe the slate clean of her mistakes. He loves her because her apologies mean she’s willing to move forward and not make those same mistakes again.

He loves her because she accepts the things about him that most people consider flaws. She sees his imperfections and she understands that’s what makes him human. She sees his imperfections and understands that she’s got them too. He loves her because she doesn’t expect their love to be perfect. She doesn’t expect him to be perfect either.

He loves her because she doesn’t make him feel like a disappointment. He loves her because she is proud of him and everything that he’s done, because she doesn’t pressure him with expectations that he needs to live up to, or benchmarks he needs to reach. He loves her because she accepts him even when he fails. He loves her because she doesn’t leave when it happens. He loves her because she encourages him to keep going , to try again, and to not feel discouraged while doing so. He loves her because she motivates him to be strong.

So when she asks him why he loves her, he’ll ask her how she doesn’t know. “How could I not love you? How could you not understand why?” And in her head she knows it’s because a small part of her can’t believe it and a larger part of her maybe doesn’t want to, because if she believes him when he says, “I love you,” if she believes all of the reasons he gives, that must mean that love is something she deserves. That must mean that this love is real, because she’s finally found a person who can give it to her.

Why I dumped Ambode - Tinubu

A former governor of Lagos State and national leader of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu Sunday said he refused to back the current governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, for a second term because he deviated from the master plan created for the development of the state.

Tinubu also accused Ambode, whom he supported in 2015, of alienating those who ” contributed so much to our development”.

“Whenever a government departed from this plan without [a] compelling reason, the state and its people have borne the painful consequence of the improper departure,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu, however, agreed that the said master plan may not have been perfect.

After months of rumours, Tinubu also formally endorsed the candidacy of Jide Sanwo-Olu, who served under him when he was the governor of the state.

He described Sanwo-Olu as being ” endowed with superlative vision and commitment.”

Sanwo-Olu also has the backing of all but four members of the state’s assembly and all the chairmen of local councils in the state.

But Governor Akinwunmi Ambode earlier on Sunday said the aspirant, who also served under him, was not fit to lead Lagos owing to his criminal past and his mental health.

“This particular aspirant is somebody that has been arrested for spending fake dollars in a nightclub in America, and he has been detained for months,” Ambode said.

“He doesn’t have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at the Gbagada General Hospital.”

That Ambode tacitly acknowledged that he has access to Sanwo-Olu’s medical record is a violation of Section 44 of Nigeria’s Code of Medical Ethics as laid down by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

The section states that “any information about the patient that comes to the knowledge of the practitioner in the course of the patient-doctor relationship constitutes a secret and privileged information which must in no way be divulged by him to a third party.”

The governor further said that he was the better aspirant and will be able to defeat the aspirant supported by his erstwhile godfather and also has the support of the Mandate Group, one of the most influential blocs in Lagos APC.

But Tinubu insisted that his anointed choice, having served in the last three administrations in the state, was better placed to continue the implementation of the Lagos masterplan.

“While possessing a wealth of experience and exposure, he is a young man endowed with superlative vision and commitment,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

“Most importantly, he understands the importance of the blueprint for development.

“He esteems it as a reliable and well-conceived vehicle for the future development of the state.”

This is not the first time Tinubu will be antagonistic to the second term bid of his endorsed candidates. In 2011, he was reportedly against the re-election of Raji Fashola as the governor of the state.

Both, however, were able to resolve their differences and Fashola was presented by now-defunct Action Congress of Nigeria as its candidate.

French World Cup winner gets pelters from his own supporters after being substituted with 20 minutes to go in their 3-1 defeat

Manchester United star Paul Pogba was hauled off with 20 minutes to go in their 3-1 defeat to West Ham United, and supporters weren’t happy.

The France star produced another poor display against the Hammers, who only had four points before the match.

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is substituted against West Ham

Pogba’s relationship with Mourinho hit another low in midweek with the pair being pictured rowing in training after the player had made a social media post during their Carabao Cup defeat to Derby.
While many players would attempt to prove their manager wrong, the midfielder lacked effort and guile as the Red Devils were undone at the London Stadium.

And his display in the capital saw some fans on Twitter fuming, as you can see below.

Tinubu opens up on Ambode's sins

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given a hint of his grouse with the embattled governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode.

In a statement issued on Sunday and posted on his twitter handle, Tinubu accused the Ambode administration of being selfish and deviating from the masterplan for the development of Lagos State.

He accused the governor of not carrying everybody along in the administration of the state.

Ambode who is seeking a second term in office is facing a serious challenge from another aspirant Babajide Sanwo-Olu, propped up by Tinubu who has passed a vote of no confidence in the governor.

Read an excerpt from Tinubu’s statement:

“Roughly 20 years ago, a corps of dedicated and patriotic Lagosians, put aside personal interests and rivalries, to put their minds and best ideas together for the good of the state.

“Out of this collaborative effort, was born a master plan for economic development that would improve the daily lives of our people. Bestowed on me was the honour of a lifetime when I was elected to be your governor in 1999. My administration faithfully implemented that plan.

“The government of my immediate successor, Tunde Fashola, also honoured this enlightened plan. Where state government remained true to that blueprint, positive things happened.

“During my tenure and Governor Fashola’s, Lagos state recorded improvements in all aspects of our collective existence, from public health to public sanitation, from education to social services, from the administration of justice to the cleaning of storm and sewage drains.

“Businesses, large and small, invested, hired millions of workers and thrived. All Lagosians were to fully participate and justly benefit from the social dividends and improvements wrought by this plan.

“From the common labourer, to business leaders, to professionals and our industrious civil service. We all were to be partners in a monumental but joint enterprise.

“None was to be alienated. None was to be left out. And none were to be pushed aside. This is especially true for those who contributed so much to our development, whether as a business leader who has invested heavily in Lagos, the homeowner who struggles to pay his fair share of taxes or as someone employed in the hard work of keeping our streets and byways clean so that others may go about their daily tasks unimpeded.

“I make no pretence that the master plan is perfect. It can always be fine-tuned. However, whenever a government departed from this plan without compelling reason, the state and its people have borne the painful consequence of the improper departure.

“I am encouraged by the emergence of a candidate in this primary who has served the state in senior positions in my administration, the Fashola administration and even in the current one.

“While possessing a wealth of experience and exposure, he is a young man endowed with superlative vision and commitment. Most importantly, he understands the importance of the blueprint for development. He esteems it as a reliable and well-conceived vehicle for the future development of the state. He also knows the value of reaching out and working with others in order to maximize development and provide people the best leadership possible.

“We walk into this primary strong and confidently believing in the right course we are to take. We shall emerge from this primary even stronger and more confident that we have taken that course by returning Lagos and our party to their finest path.”

“Tomorrow, our party and the people of Lagos will have an encounter with destiny. We shall hold our governorship primary.

“With the holding of direct primaries to elect governorship candidates in Lagos and other states, the APC takes a groundbreaking step toward greater internal democracy and progressive governance for the benefit of all people.

“While our party is young, it has grown fast and has travelled far in a short time. This speaks well of the character of you, the party’s rank-and-file members. What, in other nations, has taken political parties generations to achieve, we have done in a few brief years.

“No other party in Nigeria dare attempt what we have already dedicated ourselves to do. I thank and commend all APC members and all Lagosians who have lent their support to this historic and humane mission upon which our party has embarked.

“We are democrats in the truest sense of the word. As such, we forever search for what is good and right for the people. With this ideal as our guide, tomorrow’s primary cannot be shaded by selfish ambition or the perceived personal grievance between this or that person.

“Something much greater waits in the balance. What is at stake is nothing less than the future of the people of this state and how we can best maximise our collective destiny. By resort to direct primaries, the party places the people’s future soundly in their hands.

“As democracy would have it, you shall be the authors of the party’s nomination and hopefully our next state government. I trust in the wisdom of the people and will abide it. However, as a leader of the party and as a former governor of our beloved and excellent Lagos, I would be remiss if I did not make a few observations regarding the primary. My goal is and shall always be a better Lagos. To this objective, I have dedicated the greater part of my public life.”
