Chinese aid not ‘new colonialism’, says S.Africa president

Cyril Ramaphosa

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday delivered a stinging rebuttal to criticism of China’s development aid in Africa, following a pledge by Chinese President Xi Jinping to invest $60 billion in the continent.

Speaking at a summit on China-Africa cooperation, Ramaphosa said the meeting “refutes the view that a new colonialism is taking hold in Africa, as our detractors would have us believe”.

Let's wait and see.....

China can never be trusted in Africa.Any African country that opens door for China is making a bad mistake.

No nation is keen to develop another nation, is a means to an end, ,  Europe, US, Asia, forget it.  Africa needs to stand up on our own, we can't rely on Western lies

no one will develop  u. did we African give  China aid?. we need commitment by African leader not begging China to help us. we need to make adequate use of opportunity to left our people from poverty.

Every day I hear people condemned Chinese for good intentions to words Africa. I wonder when we Africans will wake up from our slomber  what has American or the UK done for us than thief thief and at d

The same time enslaved us with our so called leader....... China who na welcome to Nigeria infart welcome to Niger delta

Any trust in China is a trust misplaced... Period

Mr president of south African, u are talking like baby,Chinese govt went development in African, what as us,UK,Europe, did to development of Africa, all ur DECA infrastructure in African have being rebuilding in a modern development, we are enjoyed new railway in Abuja's, Lagos, kogi to calabar, now, more are coming from same China

Chinese are Keen to the development of Africa than Europe and America

u  ar  a beneficiary now so u will not understand how the so. called aids will affect the next generation who will re- pay the grants / aids / debts... the new / economic re colonisation.

that is true, european cooperation and aid were just looting africans all these years during, also see how france has still a tough hand on her ex colonies : the franc cfa and natural ressources of uemoa and cemac are vital for france.
