FG inaugurates anti-corruption strategy committee

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) has inaugurated the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee on the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.

Inaugurating the committee in Abuja on Monday, Malami charged them to ensure that the National Anti-Corruption Strategy is fully implemented, adding that the expectation of the citizens is high on the matter.

He said the strategy comprisesd five pillars: Prevention, Public engagement, Ethical re-orientation, enforcement and sanction, and recovery and management of proceeds of crime.

He said the strategy was validated on April 27, 2017 and “an Action Plan was developed, validated and adopted thereafter by relevant stakeholders on 26th March, 2018.”

Members of the committee are selected from various departments and agencies of the government and anti-corruption NGOS.

In her address, the chairperson of the Technical Committee, Ladidi Mohammed said the committee developed the National Action Plan on Anti-Corruption, which has now been adopted by the government in conjunction with the private sector stakeholders. She stressed the importance of evaluation to any project.
