2019: A Last Minute Arrival! Dino Malaye’s….. Decamps To APC

Senator Dino Melaye’s  Personal Assistant  Abeororan Olusegun, has decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Olusegun decamped to the camp of Senator Smart Adeyemi.

Senator Adeyemi is in the battle for Kogi west senatorial district, challenging Melaye for the seat.

Dino Melaye is a Nigerian politician, a Senator and member of the 8th National Assembly, representing Kogi West Senatorial district. Dino is a member of the People’s Democratic Party. He is currently the Chairman Senate Committee in FCT.

Melaye’s political career has not been spared of scandals and accusations.

As a senator, it was alleged that Melaye continued to operate a checking and savings account with a US bank, in violation of Nigeria law, a report he has not denied. Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau strongly and clearly prohibits the use of foreign accounts by elected and public officials.

One transaction on Melaye’s Bank of America debit card is an approved payment to the New York-based Schweiger Dermatology for $1,000. The company describes itself as a medical and cosmetic dermatology service offering a variety of skin healthcare needs.

Melaye has repeatedly dodged questions that he operates these bank accounts, despite evidence provided including transaction dates, bank statements, card numbers, and location of the transactions.

Melaye criticized Edo state Governor Adams Oshiomhole for “importing his wife” rather than marrying a Nigerian woman.

Melaye had threatened to beat up Senator Oluremi Tinubu and ‘impregnate’ her on the floor of the Senate.

In June 2017, a process to recall Senator Melaye from the National Assembly was kick started.

The Senator characteristically has accused the governor of “shooting the moon and boxing the air.

Melaye further said, “Spending over N1bn of taxpayers’ money on an unproductive venture, when salaries and pensions have not been paid, is wicked. “I will continue to defend the poor and defenceless masses of Kogi State. If I die, I die. We must rescue the state, he was arrested 23 April 2018 on the international wing of Nnamdi azikiwe Airport by NIS as they claim his name was on the watch list of the interpol after the Nigeria 🇳🇬 police declared him wanted .”

In May 2, 2018, Senator Melaye was arraigned in court by the Police on Wednesday at Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Abuja. He was granted bail in the sum of N90million by the court, having met the bail condition but was rearrested by the police shortly after his release.

On July 24 2018, Melaye alongside 13 other Senators of the All Progressives Congress, APC, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. In Abuja on the 5th of January,Dino Melaye slummed after surrendering to the police.

List Of Senators Not Returning To Senate...

Following the just concluded election and the ongoing result announcement by Independent Electoral Commission but(INEC), twenty-four of 66 senators who sought for a re-election into the 9th Senate have lost out at the National Assembly elections, which held alongside the Presidential elections last Saturday.

The senators that sought for return bids, but lost at the polls, as declared INEC are the President of the Senate,

Dr. Bukola Saraki (PDP, Kwara Central),
Godswill Akpabio (APC, Akwa Ibom West),

Nazif Gamawa (PDP, Bauci)

 Rafiu Ibrahim (PDP, Kwara South),

Tayo Ala soadura (APC, Ondo Central)

 Yele Omogunwa (Ondo South).

 Suleiman Hunkuyi (PDP, Kaduna North),

Monsurat Sunmonu (ADC, Oyo Central),

Rilwan Adesoji (ADP, Oyo South),

 Abiodun Olujimi (PDP, Ekiti South),

Duro Faseyi (PDP, Ekiti North),

Mao Ohuabunwa (PDP, Abia North),

Andy Uba (APC, Anambra South)

Victor Umeh (APC Anambra Central).

Other serving senators in the category of those who lost on Saturday include: Senators Shittu Ubali (PDP, Jigawa North East),

 Shehu Sani (PRP, Kaduna Central),

Mohammed Hassan (PDP, Yobe South)

Binta Masi Garba (APC, Adamawa North). Hamman Isa Misau (PDP, Bauchi Central),

Ahmed Ogembe (PDP, Kogi Central),

Attai Aidoko (PDP, Kogi East),

Barnabas Gemade (SDP, Benue North East),

Bob Effiong (APC, Akwa Ibom),

 David Umaru (APC Niger East).

A total of 33 senators earlier lost out in primary elections, which took place in October last year.
Going by the above statistics, it means that a total of 66 senators in the Senate won’t return as eight others went for governorship primaries and succeeded.

However, the casualty figure might further increase among the remaining 41 senators, since not all of them have been declared winners in the Saturday elections. Consequently, while only about 40 of the serving senators will be among the elected 109 senators for the 9th Senate, most of the remaining 69 others will be first timers who will take some time to learn parliamentary practice.

In the 7th Senate, when a similar high turnover hit the Upper Chamber, the then Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, who was among those who lost out, lamented that the high turnover was affecting the efficiency of the nation’s apex parliament.

MC Oluomo shutdown Oshodi? Traders, residents run for cover as Area Boys goes on rampage- See details

Like most elections in Nigeria, the poll marred by pockets of violence in some areas some of which took place in Lagos. But what is most unusual is the fact that after the votes were concluded, the violence seems not to end, particularly in parts of Lagos where it was observed that hoodlums, went on a rampage.

Reports in Lagos suggest that areas boys took over the streets of Oshodi on Monday after traders, suspected to be of Igbo extractions were prevented from opening their shops after they were accused of not voting for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The hoodlums, who are alleged to be members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), whose national treasurer is the notorious MC Oluomo, the alleged riches area boy in Nigeria.

Though it cannot be proven that MC Oluomo was directly involved in the incident, it is generally believed that since he controls most of the area boys in that part of the state, he must have had a hand in the fracas be it directly or indirectly.

Speaking to reporters, the Lagos State Police command has stated that the situation is under control, while security has been beefed up in the state in general.

“The command wishes to debunk the rumour in its entirety, as nothing could be farther from the truth.

“Although the command received distress calls from concerned Nigerians, whose apprehensions were understandably heightened by disturbing rumours emanating from some social media platforms, the command swiftly and massively deployed its personnel drawn from various units in Oshodi and its environs to assuage the feelings of residents and further assure Lagosians of its readiness to decisively deal with any person who attempts to breach the public peace,” the statement signed by the spokesman Chike Chima, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said.

“In order to sustain the peaceful atmosphere, the command will maintain a high level of police presence in all parts of the state, with emphasis on crime-prone areas.

“The command warns criminally-minded people and disgruntled elements to steer clear of the state or be prepared to contend with security forces,” the statement concluded.

Some eyewitness recalled the events of the day, which many stressed that it was life threatening in many cases.

“We don’t have peace of mind at the moment because these hoodlums can show up anytime. This is why we are not displaying our goods. We cannot open our shops because we are afraid that the hoodlums may attack us and loot our goods,” an eyewitness said.

“It happened in the morning. The majority of the traders were not around. Area boys stormed Oshodi and attacked shop owners, destroying goods,” a resident of the area said.

Observers have stated that if the situation is not nipped in the bud, it could escalate to the governorship elections scheduled to hold in the coming days, they stated that voters intimidation could lead to apathy which is not healthy for the nation’s democracy and democratic values.

The state government have been called upon to wade into the situation and reassure the citizens regarding their safety as they go to cast their votes in subsequent elections.

How the internet reacted to Samsung new folding phone

"How much!?!"

It wasnt so long ago that the tech press got in a tizz over the first $1,000 (£766) smartphones. Now were being expected to stump up roughly double that for the entry-level version of Samsungs Galaxy Fold.

Yes, the phone-tablet hybrid seems to be a modern-day engineering marvel - although it is a bit concerning that neither the media nor industry analysts have been given any hands-on time with the device.

Yes, theres huge appeal in being able to fit a tablet-sized screen in your trouser or jacket pockets - even if the idea of getting coins trapped between the screens doesnt bear thinking about.

And yes, its great to see a smartphone that doesnt look like 2001s black monolith - even if youd have to be a very trusting parent to let your toddler watch YouTube on it.

In time, it may be considered that Samsung trumped Apple with its tenth anniversary release.

But $1,980+? You can buy a Galaxy S10e, iPad Pro, wireless headphones and still have change for a foreign break for that.

Anyway, heres what the press and general public had to make of the launch:

Financial Times:

Claiming industry "firsts" has always been central to Samsungs branding... However, with the foldable screens only just reaching commercial viability and pricing likely to put both Huawei and Samsungs models out of the reach of all but the wealthiest consumers, the devices are unlikely to affect the race for market share.

Cnet:

People are holding onto their smartphones longer than before, and its getting harder to justify a pricey upgrade given the relatively minor tweaks made every year. The hope is that foldables can change that.

Ars Technica:

Apart from potential durability concerns with a device thats constantly being opened and closed, one of the big questions here is how well Samsung and Google have optimised Android for the foldable form factor.

The Verge:

Its fair to say that the Galaxy Fold looks far better when its folded out than being used as a traditional phone. The phone display is clearly designed to be used with one hand, but its flanked by large bezels that arent found on the tablet mode.

The Guardian:

[The Fold] promises to be the next logical step in the evolution of the smartphone. It offers the utility of a phone and tablet in one device and looks set to see the smartphone cannibalise yet another device, following the death of the music player, the compact camera and perhaps soon the wallet.

NEWS UPDATE: Buhari Receives Immediate Order To Remove Giant APC Broom From The Abuja City Gate

The Spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Kassim Afegbua, has said that the action by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to erect the World’s Biggest Local Broom Sticks, at the entrance gate of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, is a deliberate decision of the ruling party, aimed at offending the sensibilities of Nigerians and has called on the APC leadership to immediately remove it.

Recall that a Twitter user,‏ @adex0057, uploaded a photograph of the broom, taken on Thursday, and he tagged it as a Guinness World Records, GWR, in his caption.

The tweet which was retweeted by Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate past Governor of Osun State read: “WORLD LARGEST BROOM Attention: @GWR This is the Largest Broom anybody or group has ever [erected] anywhere in the world.

This is the work of some group of volunteers of the @OfficialAPCNg. It deserves your recognition and honour. Location: Abuja; Date: 02/07/2019.”

Kassim Afegbua released a statement on the broom which reads: “This is the most unconscionable piece of idiocy by the APC-led Federal Government, to betray the fundamental objective of citing the Federal Capital Territory, in Abuja, devoid of any shade of partisan colouration or affiliation. This must be a symbol of voodooism that is deliberately erected to offend the sensibilities of others, and betray the very reason why the FCT logo is a symbol of unity.

A party symbol, other than being a sign of voodooism, cannot be erected at such a location, to deface the point of entry to a city that symbolises our unity.

“It is a huge joke taken too far, and the APC Leadership should quickly direct the immediate removal of that poisoned chalice, for the sake of our collective unity. That poisoned broom should be removed forthwith, or we will direct FCT public gardens Officials to remove it immediately.”

Similarly, a popular Social Media Influencer, Japheth Omojuwa, on his twitter handle, @Omojuwa, called for the removal of the statue, saying that, it affects the beauty of the location. He said: “Damn it. Why deface the capital city this way? And the FCT Minister approved this? How many votes will this giant broom get you? I bet zero.

No sane person will decide to vote the APC, on account of this giant broom. So, that makes it a pointless and stupid image. Take it down!”

Responding to the criticisms, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said that the opposition party’s reactions in recent times, have become very petty and unacceptable.

He accused the political party of losing touch with its campaign messages to Nigerians, saying that, rather than focusing on attacking the ruling party, “PDP should let the voters know what it would do differently, if given the chance to govern the country again”.

Issa-Onilu added: “But has any other party gone there to erect their symbols and they are stopped? The same people who said APC was not ready to campaign, and that we were relying on rigging methods, are now still complaining that our campaign efforts are too much? I think we need to be more serious in this country.”

Other Nigerians have taken to the social media, to express disappointment over the construction of the giant broom, in front of the Abuja City Gate.

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory, noted that, as at Thursday, it was not clear what was being constructed when they began, but afterwards, it turned out to be the broom symbol of the APC. However, the presence of the APC broom has been greeted by anger and in some cases, major disappointment by very concerned Nigerians.

Here are the reactions of Nigerians on Twitter:

@dondekojo: These ones are installing a giant broom, in front of a national monument? How insane is this?

@Shawnife: These people do not even rate us again. A huge broom has now been mounted in front of the City Gate.

@Biisi96: What is the meaning of this useless broom they are erecting at city gate? So, this is the madness they were up to. I was confused as to what it was yesterday evening. But alas it was buffoonery in the making. I am tired abeg.

@TheIgboWolf: The broom does not represent anything to Nigerians or Nigeria. It is a symbol of a party, just one political party. But it has been mounted at the front of the FCT. Again, this country is not for all of us.

@Waynetipsy_ng tweeted: #2019elections APC Mounts Gigantic Metal Broom At City Gate, Abuja. The broom allegedly cost a whooping N250 million.

@dulzura_2badtz: Just a random question from a curious observer… so is this broom a national monument, or it is just for the election purpose, and how much was budgeted for this?

@ify_zoe wrote: World Largest Broom. You are even tagging Guinness Book of Records without shame. If Buharism is not a mental case, I wonder what it is.

@NotACoquette read: The broom that brings doom.

@Mohd_abdul_’s tweet read: Going to the FRANCE capital, you would see… The ‘EIFFEL TOWER’, but coming to Abuja, the Nigerian capital, you would end up seeing the ‘BIG BROOM’.

@afrispheric: Imagine driving into the capital city of a country in the 21st century, and one of the first things you see is a BROOM. Not a rocket. Not a super computer. Not a freedom fighter. But a dirty looking broom.

Election: US Sends Clinton To Meet Buhari, Atiku ⋆

As Neymar turns 27, the stats that prove he is better than Ronaldo at same age

Brazilian star has played fewer games but scored more goals and tallied more assists, while winning more trophies

NEYMAR has even more reason to celebrate his 27th birthday - as the stats have revealed he is enjoying a much better career than Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age.

The Brazil star, who turned 27 yesterday, celebrated his big day with a glitzy bash in Paris, inviting friends, family and a host of celebs.

Neymar has enjoyed a better career than Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age

Paris Saint-Germain ace Neymar is currently sat on the sidelines as he prepares to miss around ten weeks with a foot injury.

While Neymar will miss both legs of the Champions League last-16 tie with Manchester United, he still has reason to be happy.

After all, the numbers suggest he is already enjoying a better career than five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo.

When the now-Juventus star turned 27 - and on the books of Real Madrid - he's played 532 games in all competitions, more than Neymar's 469.

Neymar has enjoyed a far superior career to Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age

Ronaldo had scored 272 goals and laid-on 107 assists - with Neymar streets ahead on 283 and 178 respectively.

Thanks to incredible spells at Barcelona and now PSG, the Brazilian has also got his hands on 19 trophies.

Ron, despite playing for United and Los Blancos had still only won ten at the same age.

In fact, Ronaldo only has the edge in one category - Ballon d'Or crowns.

Neymar goes off in tears after nasty ankle injury makes him a doubt for Manchester United clash

Ronaldo scored fewer goals, had fewer assists and trophies than Neymar at 27

The Juve forward, 34, had won his first individual crown in 2008, aged 23 - not winning his next until he was 28-years-old.

However, it's fair to say Ronaldo has enjoyed arguably the best years of his career since turning 27.

The Portuguese star has gone on to break a hatful of records in Europe and throw his hat into the ring to be named one of the best footballers of all time.

Neymar has a long way to go to reach that level, but the stats suggest he's well on his way.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has reacted to the deployment of a new commissioner of Police to Kwara State ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The new commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun is a former Chief Security Officer to APC national leader, Bola Tinubu.

While addressing his supporters during the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) rally at Balogun Fulani ward in Ilorin south local government area of the state, Saraki said:

“they (the opposition) are scared to come and meet our people that is why they are busy changing police commissioner every day but that won’t change our peoples resolve to continue to support us.

“The support we received shows that we are on ground with the people and they are still fully supporting us. Let other party come and meet our people and see if people will receive them the way they received us. Man Utd fans in panic mood after Solskjaer confirmed this news

Manchester United claimed maximum points at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. Leicester were punished for slack defending in the critical moment in the game. Ricardo Pereira gave the ball to Paul Pogba in the 9th minute. Pogba duly played a ball over the top to Marcus Rashford who slammed home what proved to be the winner.

Rashford is enjoying an impressive season for United. The forward has nine goals and seven assists in the Premier League. As a result, Rashford has usurped Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez as Man United’s number one striker. Following the Leicester match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also revealed that Rashford was playing with a knock. The interim United boss confirmed:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer greats Macus Rashford after a wonderful performance for Manchester United at the Old Trafford

“He’s played a lot of games and he got a dead leg earlier on but he struggled through it so well done.”
Will Marcus Rashford be out of action for Man United?

during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on December 11, 2016 in Manchester, England.

That seems unlikely. The Red Devils are back in action next weekend when they travel to relegation threatened Fulham. With several days rest ahead of him, Rashford should be fit for the match against the Cottagers. Lukaku replaced Rashford with 12 minutes remaining against the Foxes.

‘Ed Woodward is doing a madness’: Man Utd fans react after club announcement

MANCHESTER UNITED have announced a new commercial deal and Red Devils fans are taking great delight in mocking Ed Woodward.

Manchester United are flying high under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the Norwegian 10 games unbeaten in all competitions since taking charge.

And with the Norwegian busy preparing for Saturday’s clash with Fulham, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been busy off the pitch.

United and Remington, a global leader in personal care, have announced a multi-year partnership that will see the brand become the club’s first official Electrical Styling Partner.

Manchester United’s Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold, said: “Remington is one of the most famous and established brands in their field and they are a great addition to our family of commercial partners.

”Our partnership is not only about bringing our fans high-end styling products, it aims to inspire and encourage individuality though powerful activations and campaigns with both Manchester United’s men’s and women’s team.“

And as news of the partnership broke, United fans took to social media to mock Woodward - who has been criticised over his transfer business and managerial appointments in recent seasons.

“Say what you want about his footballing decisions but Woodward does absolute murders out there in terms of sponsorship and revenue generation,” said one fan.

“Don't sack Ed, just have him not handle the footballing side of things.”

“Official electrical styling partner, f*** me. Ed is doing a madness,” joked another.

“Ed at it again,” said another.

“About time. United have been miles behind in the official electrical styling partner department for years,” quipped a fourth.

Solskjaer will be looking to make it 11 games unbeaten when they visit Fulham on Saturday and he’s been boosted by the potential return of two players.

Chris Smalling has returned from injury and the ex-Fulham star may return to the line-up, giving either Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly the opportunity of a rest.

Marcos Rojo is also nearing a comeback having travelled back from Argentina where he was receiving specialist treatment.

Solskjaer could make several changes with the 45-year-old resting some of his stars ahead of their Champions League meeting with PSG on Tuesday night.

“They Must Buy Me A Car, Credit My Account” – 19-Year-Old Declares Interest In 50-Year-Old Man With Down Syndrome

A 19-year-old girl has declared interest in the Ozubulu man with down syndrome, who married a 15-year-old nursing mother in their community. In a post on a Facebook group, Onuh Chisom Maryjane, slammed those insulting the man and asked if they don’t want the man to enjoy what other men enjoy in women and besides she is more beautiful that the other lady.

She also stated that she’ll marry the man on the condition that his ‘rich’ family members, open up a business for her, buy her a car and credit her account. Read her post below: “Since u people doesn’t want him to marry a 15 year old girl, fine. Bring him to me let him marry a 19 yrs old girl. If you people don’t want him, I want him.
Some people are wicked, they don’t want him to enjoy what others are enjoying, people should stop insulting him. Any way that girl ‘no fine at all’ and I’m finer than her. I also heard that his brother is rich, that’s good to know, but before i marry him, they must buy me a car, credit my account and open up a business for me. Please I’m interested in him”.

It would be recalled that more facts have emerged about the 15-year-old girl set to be maried off to Izuchukwu Igwilo, an allegedly demented man from the wealthy Igwilo family in Ozubulu community in Anambra state.  Activist, Prince Harrison Gwamnishu, who visited Anambra state after the story went viral, said the said girl is from Ihiala community and is actually 15 going on 16. Harrison in an interview with LIB, said the girl is from a very poor family and that she had a child when she was in primary 5 and had to quit school. Her family couldn’t continue sponsoring her education and also taking care of her child so they decided that they were going to marry her off to Izuchukwu who came recently with his family members to ask for her hand in marriage. Acording to the family, they believe no one would come for the little girl’s hand in marriage since she has a child.

Harrison says the Igwilos really want Izuchukwu to get married and also have children of his own, hence they have accepted to have the girl come into their family with her own child. Izuchukwu’s brothers, who are said to be wealthy, have pledged to sponsor the girl’s child and any children she and their brother will have together.  The traditional wedding of Izuchukwu and the teen girl is slated for Easter this year and, according to Harrison, a lot of money running into millions of Naira has been budgetted for the ceremony.
