Indirect Primaries is a breeding ground for corruption – Shehu Sani

The Senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani spoken against moves made by some members of the All Progressive Congress APC to allow indirect primaries at state levels.

APC had during its sixth National Executive Council NEC meeting in Abuja on the 30th of August adopted direct primary election for choosing its presidential candidate while states were granted freedom to embrace indirect primaries in fielding candidates for other position.

Although the ruling party has in a reverse move adopted direct primaries for all elective offices, some state chairmen of the party have dared the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) over the decision as they back governors on indirect primaries.

Shehu Sani while reacting to the developments via a tweet on Monday stressed that indirect primaries promote corruption adding that it is morally irreconcilable to fight corruption as a government but condone it as a party.

According to the lawmaker; “If we fight corruption as a Government and condone it as a party, we become moral ‘moral mullatoes’. Indirect Primaries is a breeding ground for corruption, an incubator for corruption and a crèche for corruption”.
