Shooting Stars Sack 20 Players

Shooting Stars Sack 20 Players

Shooting Stars of Ibadan have sacked 20 players following their relegation from the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL. The side had warned that there would be a massive shake-up in the wake of its relegation from the league. It has now fired half of its playing staff and reports have said it could shift to Fatai Amoo, the club’s coach.

The mass sack was announced by Jubril Arowolo, the club’s spokesman. He said the club had carefully evaluated the quality of players and decided to sack the ones considered as its weak link.
Among the players sent packing are Wasiu Jimoh, Merenini, Suraju Sadiq, Abu Azeez and Tolulope Olaifa.

Arowolo listed the players, whose services were retained by the club, as Abubakar Adamu, Michael Uweru, Shittu Taiwo, Isiaq Rafiu, Ajani Ibrahim, Kunle Olukokun, Bode Daniel, Sherrif Sanda, Kayode Bankole and Seun Akinyemi.

Others are Alaba Osawe, Omololu Waheed, Opeyemi Adetoyi, Oginni Olatubosun, Ayobami Abiodun Jnr, Shile Ibrahim, Sunday Faleye, Jide Apena, Abayomi Adebayo and Rafiu Wasiu.

Reports say the club has already started making moves to replace the sacked players. The club is said to have sent out scouts to identify players capable of helping the side gain promotion to the league in the nearest future.
