2019: PDP urged to ensure party supremacy
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been charged to ensure party supremacy in the 2019 electioneering process to attract desired victory and deepen the nation’s democracy.
Speaking with journalists during an interactive meeting with members of the party organized by two governorship aspirants; Alhaji Aliyu Oladimeji Hasaan and Saka Isau SAN, the PDP chairman, Ilorin West local government, Alhaji Baba Akota, said that political party cannnot only stands as the platform that provides foundation for government, but that a government can also surface only after formation of a political party.
The PDP chairman, who said that political party is the mother and the father of the government, commended the governorship aspirants for showing good example by visiting the party, urging party members to sustain loyalty to the political structure led by the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
“Although we have many of them but two among them are here to interact with the party members; Ladi Hassan and Saka Isau SAN. They have come to receive the blessings of the party before any other thing. If you are a serious candidate, you are supposed to formally make your intention known here. The two of them have shown that they are true party men. They have presented themselves as good examples to the others, we really appreciate them,” he said.
Also speaking with newsmen at the event, Alhaji Aliyu Oladimeji Hassan said the choice of the political leaders in the country must be guided by realities and that emphasis should be based on demanding for someone who knows the political culture of the particular environment, shares the people’s aspirations, know their strengths and weaknesses.
Hassan who promised to attend Ward, Caucus and other important meetings if elected governor said he has learned the rope and that putting his wealth of experience into use as the governor would be greatly advantageous to the state.
