Suspect – I Rob Because Many People in the Government Steal

A robbery suspect is not even ashamed of his crimes and he even justifies himself by saying, since government people are also involved in it, he will also partake and he is not going to stop.
One out of the two armed robbers that were arrested recently by the Niger State Police Command has disclosed that if he is being released, he would still go back to his crime.
According to reports by PUNCH, the suspects, by name Bello Mallam and Shehu Buda were both detained in Talba Estate, Bida, and they disclosed that they went into crime because of the economic hardship of the country and also the inability of the government to provide jobs.

Mallam, 18 and Shehu, 20, were followed and arrested after they robbed one Mohammed of the sum of N7,400 and two mobile phones valued at N9,000, after inflicting injury on him with a machete and planks for not allowing them to ra.pe his daughter
Buda disclosed that he committed the crime due to the economic recession in the country. “Many people are stealing in the country, including top government officials. People are dying of hunger and there is no job.”
What else do you expect me to do other than stealing? If am discharged by the police, I will still go back to rob people. The country is in a bad situation,” he said unrepentantly. The suspects will be charged to court at the end of the investigation.
